Damage model for the Ships

I can remember with armada 2 a damage system existed. You saw holes in the hull of the ships. Maybe a Federation-Ship could lost a Warp nacelle.

What are you thinking about this?

Don't know if a ship could fly without a nacelle, but I remember that hit ships use to leave a gas trail behind them.

... but as Dark Painkiller said, they also did have damaged bits on them too... which was really cool imo  :thumbsup:

It would definitely be nice to give more of a feel of damage incurred during battle  :whistling:

I'm fairly sure ships can fly without 1 nacelle, just look at legacy...maybe not, ever since they patched that out. Besides, nacelles are only necessary to form the warp field, the warp drive and impulse engines would be intact on most ships. But I don't know how hard it would be to make damaged ships visibly repaired.

no a damage system would be great, make it more realistic, and what you could also do is have the amount of damage lower the effectivness of the ship, like lower its speed and weapon power

I don't think they are about to go change a fundamental part of the gameplay, this is a purely aesthetic idea from my perspective.

I think it could be good. But I dont think it need to be so much catastrophic damage if done darkens the hall a bit and terns off all lights it could have the same effect with out having the same damage in the same place on all ships.

I think that it would be visualy cool, but it would unbalance gameplay... you could blow off a ships disruptor or nacell. But you cant blow that off a borg cube. :borg:

Mhm, I don´t think so...

I thought rather of an optical damage system.
It must not be tied together with the Gameplay.

With the borg you are right...

But I remember the battles against the Dominion. The Battles were great.... :-)
You saw the damage on the ships very good...

yeah thats what i ment, if the damage is cosmetic then thats fine, i was saying it would unbalance the game if it was gameplay based.

some nice ideas :) we alread yhave some badly damaged wrackage on todo, but some real stuff like described here would be a cool addition. noted down, i think we can make something out of it :thumbsup:

What about when ships are destroyed? Is that being updated? It still looks like stock without any near complete wrecks.

i think a husk would be cool, players could send out resource collectors to gather a small amount of the ships build cost resources.
