nearly no playable race will have regular fighter carriers but there will be one to hire or to warpin as the avalon class.
the avalon class is a Fleet Operations design, won't be another existing one. i'm making the textures for her at the moment.
It will be equiped with 4 longrange fightes (the one seen in ds9 for the federation) which will launch automatically if the avalon attacks a target. the fighters are no selectable, independent units.
probably the avalon will have a special ability which launches an additional squad of fighters which are equiped with small torpedo launchers.

Just a quick question:

What about the idea of the Captain's Yacht for the Sovereigns. Would it be doable?

Or runabouts (perhaps as a second version of the scout). You could make Starbase build scouts and the older stations build runabouts, or whatever.

Just an idea... B) The more canon (not cannon ;)) ships you have, the more non-canon you can use without making someone "angry". :D

Nice to hear the Excelcors gonna be in flops, but theres 1 ship youve missed whitch i think is a shame, the Ambassdor. it was the first ship to have phaser strips, all b4 her hait point phasers, and if the excels gopnna be there, and the gals already there, it would make sense to fill in the middle.

Oh and i know shes old, but Constution is a musty aint it, not to build, starfleet stoped that ages, but perhaps just 1 or 2 came outta the woodwork for the domion wart, and maybe there still around..

The Constitution class is definately outdated.

The Excelsior model was used in the show again and again. So it is confirmed for the TNG/DS9 era. The Constitution class refit was an overhauled version of the original ship that had been in service for over 35 years when it got refitted. The Excelsior was brand new at that time and is much more likely to have survived that long.

I totally agree on the Ambassador-class. It can also be seen in the opening scene of the DS9 Pilot "The Emissary" during the battle at Wolf 359, along with at least one Excelsior and... one Miranda class ship. However, I think to use the Miranda model was not that good an idea. ;)

I agree, Ambassador class should be integrated along with the Excelsior class.

But again:

*I want my runabout!* :hungry:

But wait, havent I seen one in a development screenshot... *looking*

Can't find it...

But please, make it buildable as well! :crybaby:

Steamrunner class is new, why not buildable? Just an idea. ;)

In fact, all Streamrunners, Nebulas, Galaxies are new! Why are they being built in a warp in yard? I would understand if Excelsior, Ambassador and Mirandas are warp in but Galaxies and Nebulas? It just doesn't make any sense...

well the galaxy had many tactical and strategical construction errors (like a shield hole over the warp nacells). in the "sovereign" erea the galaxy and nebula class vessels are old vessels.
nope, there won't be a buildable runabout

if you want to start furhter discussions about a new feature or something like that it would be good to open up a new topic.

U call ships used in TMP new, the steam runner was in TMP...

Since there is already a request in this topic, what about a captains yacht for the soverign?

the steamrunner first appeared in star trel - first contact and it was one of the first shipclasses of the new "sovereign age".
nope there won't be a captains yacht in Fleet operations. The Captains Yacht is a worst-case solution for diplomatical or zivil travel, not for war. there never ever was a captains yacht during a conflict or a war. the only knows use of them was in str trek - insurrection, abd this was neither a open conflict nor a normal situation.

Shuttles and yachts are about as useful as a cargo ship full of drunk klingons on a inner-planetary conquest mission.,
Its only for eye candy and serves no value in a simulation such as FO.

FleetOperations is no simulation but a strategy game.

well the steamrunner would be better suited to standard yards

and i would love to see the ambassador as it isnt that old yet its say 18-19 years older than galaxy which isnt too bad

as for fighters i cant wait i wanna hound the romulans with fighters

I agree on shuttles...

But the scout and the runabouts differ only by 1m. And the yacht is bigger than both of them.

I thought of the yacht as some kind of "super probe" or whatever.
And the runabouts could simply be another "version" of the scout.
But as I understand, nothing of this will come true... so simply forget what I said.

And besides that, this leads to the well known size problems in FO and A2. :D

yea, we use a compromise between 'reality' and usability in fleet operations so theoreticly shuttle size would be no problem :)
