Bringing back scout rankup...

A lot of people don't think much of the scouts... I sometimes here and there use scout spams. And even with all the ships I blow up not a single ranking occurs. So, I'd like to propose some Veteran ideas for them:

Federation Venture Class:
- Original pulse is replaced with Quantum pulse (Offensive value Increased by 2)
- Short Range Tachyon Detection Grid equipped (System Value increased by 2)

Klingon Noq'DuJ Class:
- Equipped with Micro-torpedo (Offensive Value increased by 3)
- Speed increased by 30%

Romulan Talon Class:
- Weapon range increased to Long (Defensive Value increased by 1)
- Weapons Fire rate increased by 20% (Offensive value increased by 1)
- Sensor range increased by 20% (System Value increased by 1)
- Tachyon Detection Grid equipped (Sensor refit only)

Dominion A-4 Class:
- Poleron Beam penetrates sheilds, Double damage dealt to destroyers (Offensive value increased by 3)
- Recieves Auxiliary Back-ups Passive ability, reduces chance of system damage be 30%
- Speed increased by 20%

Hey, Doca, could these be worth it? And maybe have scouts take up only 1 vet slot? Oh, and if the Noxeter will have rank-up I can give ideas too.

What do you guys think about these ideas?

I don't understand why you would be spamming scouts at all. They cost more than destroyers in some cases, and are extremely cost inefficient! A vehicle with an attack of 6 isn't often going to level up--other than by sheer chance. Plus, these aren't attack vehicles, so I'm against the idea.

i dunno if its possible, but maybe the scouts could ranks up, if they explored x% of the map? so that people won't just send their scouts to dead to reveal the enemy position for warp-in...

Maybe scouts could have cost reduction? Anyway, I spam scouts because it is an instantly available vessel.

It's been proposed before in another thread that is exactly the same as this one. I even believe the Devs announced their decision on that thread.

Maybe scouts could have cost reduction? Anyway, I spam scouts because it is an instantly available vessel.

The reason scouts are expensive is to prevent early game spam for exactly the reason you stated.

But they suck. Never worth building another in my opinion.

Pretty much true except for Romulans, Borg, and (sometimes) Klingons.

It is no use to me, but I see no harm in Bringing it back.  I mean really, how bad can a vet scout be? :lol:  Or...Vet scouts could be God ships. Muwahahah!  Scout Spam!!!

Do you remember the days of PR and before Adm. Zaxxon? Scout spam and destroyer spam ruled everything.  :crybaby:

I'm not proposing a God ship scout Zaxx. All I want is to purpose the scout in a way so it is worth building another! Seriously, the main reason it isn't worth its price is because it doesn't rank up! Come on guys! Would a cadet at the academy not learn anything if he was in a venture class and destroyed a romulan scout that happened to be in the system? I'd think it is LOGICAL to give the scouts their rankings back! After all, in the Star Trek series a great number of missions were carried out via shuttle or scout craft.

Well, you need a scout to scout for areas to Warp In, so that's one reason to build another. Klingons need to build more than one. Borg need to build more than one. Romulans need to build more than one. So that leaves just the Dominion... and many times the Federation who shouldn't build a second scout.  ^-^

Yeah, I remember when you could spam any scout and win.  Espically Recentally with the borg probes. 

I see no reason not to allow it, but there is really no point.  One or two ranked up scouts will do you no good, but like I said.  There is no harm in it.

I like the ideas but klingon scouts are allready to powerfull. Sure u can increase their offense another 3 bit speed too! I think you should reduce speed by 30%

Only military vessels rank up, and scouts do not count as military vessels. "Scout" implies a person for me, that tries to identify enemy movement or position without being seen, or that moves away fast on the first signs of discovery. Therefore it would be quite strange to give them rewards for killing vessels.
However I got your request and I will see what can be done ^-^

So the Military don't scout, they get civilians in military ships with Military tech to scout?

Well, tell that to the Space Marines Tyler. Their Scouts are space marines in training, and aren't supposed to ever enter direct combat. Doesn't matter whether they are civilians.

A scout is never supposed to enter direct combat. That's why they are a scout. The ship is equipped with sensor improvements, and has a weapon solely for self defense.
