I think borg shouldn't have shields like in the series, perhaps even make it almost impossible to destroy borg or disable borg systems with conventional weapons

also i dont think borg need life support (look at Star Trek First Contact)

Borg drones have some organic parts, so they need some part of life support systems like fixed temperature...(in First Contact Borg was adjusting climate control for their own purposes on Enterprise E).

Yep, that's true, but we often saw Voyager's away team on Borg ships without any space suits so i guess Borg has life support is some manner.

well and distribution nodes, collective uplinks and the protein support wie see in first contact (these drones which are linked to small cables where they get organic stuff.. seems like borg lunch) are live support, too

as far as i remember picard & friends discussed about the extrem powerful em shield of the borg cube as they encountered them first

mm no i dont think they have shielding since everyone can beam inside of a cube at will, what they do have are dampening fields that (at any convenient moment of serie and movie writers) come in place and prevent transporting but the borg don't need shields since their hulls are strong and they can function when 3 quarters of a cube is destroyed/damaged

they turn on shields if necesary. like those walk through shields over the ship they have similar shields to protect their vessel but ok, it my be not that globe but something like skin shield enterprise in nemesis has. everyone could also beam aboard any fed verssel. but the feds care about who enters their ship cause someone may be a potential danger. borg see no reason why they should even turn on their shields for a anyway minor race as humans are (hear the borg queen :))

so what i wanted to say basicly is that borg have indeed shields but they aren't comparable with the globe we have in fleet operations and the other point is that borg don't care about when someone enters their ship but they open force fields and send drones when those humans start damaging their power nodes. remember the episodes guys :)

hey borg have even personal shields, they love forcefields everywhere, so why not to protect their ships hull?

Also in that episode when Picard gets taken. Worf and Data take a shuttel craft throught the sheilds to transport on bourd to get picrad dont they? then they beam back to the shuttel.

I would say that means they have shields ;)
And BTW when they first encountered the borg they had shields, but Voyager is the problem(again :S) cause in that series borg dont have shields on their vessles :S
