You wouldn't have a hazard team take over a ship, you would use marines...thats it.

Well do hazard teams count as cannon, i mean they never appeared in the series just elite force. Perhaps it would be best to have marines.

are you suggesting that all ships have them or just a select few, i think only a select few should have them.

...i think only a select few should have them.

I think that'd be a good idea, a defiant loaded with 100 marines/hazard team/whatever wouldn't work too well.

How about stripping down the Decent-class ship, loading it with troops and calling it a troop carrier? :P

Marines works because marines are a real branch of the military. The idea is for it's own class of ship, the defiant is way too small to hold many if any marines. Maybe a nebula class subtype, designed to disable ships and send marines.

Ah...yes I remember that being used in BC...that'd be good.

The Tavara has got that Rei'karansu Marines passive ability. I havent played FO yet (long story) but i'm guessing that makes the crew of the Tavara stronger.

Could a similar passive ability be bestowed upon vessels that are troop carriers?

I agree with the nebula sub-type for the Fed's. As for the Klingons, maybe the SuQ'Jagh-class. I don't think FO are using it for Avatars, and it's supposed to be a troop ship anyway.

i just thought, you know feds crews have above average repair & above average strenght when defending attcking board etc

weoll maybe have it so say an average fed ship has these but a marine ship won't excatly be like a science ship in defending is it now? what i am trying to say is it possible to change the crew strength etc for each ship or can you only change the amount of crew?

I am fairly sure that one can only change the attacking strength of the boarding parties of a ship not the defending strength

as for the type of ship how about a moniter class varient (bigger defiant) i don't like nebula because it is just too big and is really not designed for combat at all (targeting profile and surface area)

A Defiant class is way too small, and Nebulas can be outfitted with special pods that can hold anything from science gear to extra weapons, a Defiant class is a dumb idea, because it has barely enough room for the crew, let alone marines. There not going to make a new class of ship just to take over other ships, especially in the Federation.

yes i like a nebula class idea, it could have an option, like the dominion const. ship, to be a troop carrier, or a science ship, which would increase it's sensor range, and put a bunch of support and special weapons onboard, while the troop carrier variant could be equiped with pods and upgraded transporters, the pods, would attach to a ship, and transporters could beam more than 5 crew in a transport(something like 15 troops)
