Yup.

You have to survive that first group of 2 Probes, 3 Scubes and then you can better control things.  Even Romulans can handle the early stuff though because the Rhienns hold up better to the small / medium sized vessels.

The really nice thing is this:  Probes and non-regen scubes don't regenerate very quickly.  If they take more than 1/2 damage they will be more or less out of commission for quite a while.  If you pursue them later they will have to micro them to keep them out of combat.

Once the first sphere comes out, there comes your second test.  Luckily, if they went ahead and built the 2-3 scubes / 2 probes, they will be a little slower on getting that first Sphere out than they were in 3.0.7 :D.  By the time that first sphere is ready you should be able to have enough ships to stop it.  If you don't have some ships with torpedoes you are definitely in for a world of hurt though.

For Rommies you're really gonna need some Leahvals, either some D'Deridex, Rhienn Torp Refits, or something else with Torpedoes.

It's certainly not impossible.  I would say though that Romulans will have one of the more difficult times because they lack early torpedo firepower (and the torp rhienns are SO expensive) but the Borg are certainly not OP outside of the Dodecahedron.

yup. i refuse to build the 2x intercept dode until 3.1.3, i consider it on the edge of op. if they leave it alone im gonna use it unless there is a strong community consensus that it is op. the 2x vinculum dode is amazing. most opti players go 3x regen 1 prime sphere, i switch the prime for a holding. it has more energy to use on regen, and the dode can almost double its regen time with its special. and even though the sphere deals less damage, you can hold ships still with holding beam lol

I agree about the 2x int myles.

Ok guys what do u think about adding a gravimetric charge ability though?

sounds good, but didnt the borg have a similar weapon in bobw?

actually i would prefer that all support ships can do that type of damage in purple nebulae to hiding ships. the nebulae wouldnt be pointless, but would be a lot less exploitable.

That's where the idea comes from, the things the Cube was firing were "guided gravimetric charges" that seemed to home in on the Enterprise after being shot blindly into the nebula. I posted in another thread about that (a thread with almost the same name as this one.):
Nebula_Class_Ftw wrote:I remember TNG:Best of Both Worlds had a Borg Cube firing into a nebula to get the Enterprise out, maybe if you could tell your ships fire into the general area you think a ship is in in the nebula by giving them a special attack order. Also would be useful for outside nebulae by firing where you think a cloaked ship (or Romulan Station) is.

I think I should clarify about that post. I meant that you could give all torpedo weapons an aoe blast that would do heavy damage to nearby unshielded ships (remember that Ent-D firing a torp with its shields down was considered very dangerous due to the blast) and mild damage (but enough to eventually force them out of nebulas) to shields.
