assimilated ships

As everyone knows with the borg the ships they assimilate get the benefits of borg technology and shields, weapons and regenerative abilitys get enhanced would it be possible to add this to the game for assimilated vessels, for example a galaxy class ship gets assimilated then its fire power is increased by + 4 , shields +4 and system value by +4, this might encourage people to assimilate more.

Borg Weapons on assimilated ships? Absolutely believable, since the Borg in First Contact assimilated many parts of the Enterprise-E in a matter of what seemed to be "a few days".

I also like the idea of making assimilation more authentical and interesting for gameplay, and the best way would be a replaceweapon which works over time (as long as for example the build time of the assimilated ship) in order to bring the Borg technology to it.
The only problem is: I don't see a way of adding this replaceweapon to the button slot of the ship after it got assimilated  :(

Edit: And it would also be a lot of work, not hard, but time-eating. You would have to add assimilated odfs for all ships in game which aren't Borg.

I think Assimilation is on the list, but might not be the highest priority right now.

Seperate odf's might not be needed if you could figure out a way of getting the weapons to work the same way as the Construction ships build lists.

It works forthe buildlists, and FO has been the target of many miracles of modding before. I'm not entirely sure if it can, but if it is, the FO could probably find a way.

I would hate to bring up the whole 'borg experence' thing again. But, maby assimilated ships could level up to become 'more assimilated' (i.e. get cutting beams, gravition torpedoes, better armor ect...) one problem I could see is what would happen if a non-borg species captured the ship back.

If it's captured back, I assume the assimilation stuff simply will remain.
Or you have to add the urgency to "restore" the ships normal status by making it incapable of doing anything until the Borg stuff is removed.
I've seen an example of something very similar a month ago, I'll try to find it.

This would please me greatly, if implemented. I think that assimilated ships should gain a permanent stat boost to reflect the Borg Modding and this should persist if the ship is recaptured.

Yea, I remebered a mod for Bridge commander that did added assimilated ships that were juced up. these pictures are of a galaxy class, and it has had some cutting emiters atached to the hull as well as some other weapons.

it might not be a strong as a cube but it's better then a fed galaxy, I mean well.... :sweatdrop:, as it is, there isn't much insentive to assimilate other vessles becasue almost every borg ship is more powerfull then them, and in reality the borg would juce up a ship with there 'superior technology'... so

I would love to see somthing like this included

I think this way it would make too much of an impact to the gameplay. Assimilating ships and replacing their own weapons with Borg ones, yes. Adding more, no.

And I still vote for the idea of recaptured assimilated ships being useless until restored to default, because if someone would manage to recapture a fully assimilated Tavara for an example, just imagine how overpowered it were. Same could easily be said about almost any other ship.

It could work but their would have to be a cost associated with adding those weapons

Oh yes. Assimilate a Tavara and add just six Borg-modified heavy pulse disruptors and see who stands against this.... well I don't think adding more weapons to ships which have been assimilated and powered up by that anyway is a good idea at all. As I said. Replacing the original weapons with Borg ones would make them strong enough already and is enough to me.

You could use modules like the native Borg ships do? Aditional weapons for reduced defense, ect.

With using modules which add things to a specific cost, it's a lot better.
