Oddly enough, I hadn't thought of that option! Problem solved

that would be pretty hard, i mean borg ships have massive amount of borg on them, that would take a long time to assimilate

Cooperative versions would likely have much smaller crews, due to their much smaller population.
Set the crew up like a stock Starbase (max crew and starting crew), and assimilated ones can have full crews.

i like the idea and cud b dne like in voyager were ships were liberated these cud then hel to liberater more ships (esp since the borge went into diarray after the death of the queen in end game so cud make sence that they have grown also i guess other races could join if there independance was assured (i think the main reason ppl object to being assimilated is that:
a) there forced into it
b) they loose who they are by there independence and induviduality being stripped
if these were removed as they wud b in the proposed 3rd avatar then i can see either more ppl willing to be assimilated or at least connected like Chakotay was so mayb not fully borg but least partially and using there tech against them

Hm, in Voyager we had several instances were individuals disconnected from the Collective choose to live their own separate lives - and in fact they engage in battles with their old Borg comrades. What would make "liberated Borg" any less likely to do that? Wouldn't they want to go back to their old pre-assimilated lives if they had them?

I think that's the split between TNG borg and VOY borg. TNG borg have been cybernetic for so long that they don't know anything else. All their individuality was erased. In VOY, you all of a sudden "wake up". You can even rebel by living in the matrix......whoops!
I mean, living in unimatrix zero.
(Berman and Braga are so creative and original!
)
I like the TNG idea that if you've been in the collective too long, who you were eventually just washes away...

Oh sure just diss on my favorite show Dominus!

I'm afraid that the cannon might not work so well, but I do like the idea of a borg avatar that grants experience

Yeah, cannons rarely work in Trek (Defiant aside).
