Why is there a warp marker being added to the minimap?  Such a marker would upset the balance of the game.  And is it possible for it to be disabled by the ODFs?

what marker are you referring to?

He's referring to the "Incoming Warpin" marker listed in the Project Progress section.

It's not going to upset the Balance .  Since you're such a fan on canon reasons and logic, don't you think that a sector would be able to project the course and heading of incoming ships?  :whistling:

Yes.  But what if the ships mask their warp trail?  Only the allies will know that they are comming, right?

Masking the trail prevents people from telling where they've been, not where they're going. The others can still detect their presence and predict the target.

yup thats correct, we have seen single ships able to detect other ships lightyears away. an entire base and a fleet of ships could easily detect incoming ships.

also warpin will still be strong, just now there will be a little more risk with using warpins offensively, as the enemy will know they are coming.

I understand.  But can the supply penalty be reduced slightly to compensate for this?  Say by 10 or 15%?

im against this. i like the current supply loss. the warpins have high def, but its worth it putting in the time and effort to kill them.

I agree. I think warp in is quite balanced right now. I don't think that marker would change a lot, since you rarely see warp in raid attacks in 3.1.5(which usually lead to their destruction). I can imagine that it can be pretty nice when you fight the Feds and see ther warp in marker. At that point you may decide whether you can fight 3additional vessels or better run.

I'll like it, as it'll decrease the fedroll a tiny smidge. Which is good as a fed player I'll miss the unknowing enemy stumbling into my trap. Its a fair trade off.

Supply loss from Warpins is still not a major penalty if you play intelligently.

I'm in favour of the warp-in marker.  Feds can use it as intimidation against raids and enemy resource expansions.  Non-Feds could use it to estimate the warp-in ships travel route to the main fed fleet, hit them at a weak point in the route and prevent the fed roll.

Awe so much for sneaking my warpin raiders to an expo while I attack another one

Not necessarily Fa11out.  The constructors/miners just get a 10 second headstart.  ^-^

Yea that is huge, 10 seconds for bad guy ships to get there and kill them. By the way nice avatar
