Merciless AI: Borg Cubes
You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

I don't think there should be a limit. Because this would affect non-AI borg players as well. If someone wants to mine 100,000 dilithium and build 10 cubes then so be it! There are a lot of other costs involved that are designed to limit the number of these powerful ships, but the Merciless AI is not constrained by these the same way a human opponent is.

Not quite. I'm fairly certain there's some AIP command that's used to limit the production of something by an AI player.

What about making the AI so that they don't build cubes until the very end?

But the Cube's are the Borg's favourite Class, they use them a lot more than anything else.

Dont hold me to this, but i think the routine an AI uses is:
Check to see if any build queue's empty
Check which ships they dont have( or have a lack of)
Build that ship
Repeat.
thats why they normally have the same number of each type of vessel
So for borg i guess when they have sufficient buildings, constructors begin to build lots of uplinks, and choosing ships they have lacks of, as AI doesnt need many resources borg swarm like mad.
i think

Yes the AI can be limited to build or not build certain things, what I meant is that the AI on Merciless is not limited by resources. Its been mentioned before that they just mine to make it seem like they are gathering resources when in actuality they have an infinite amount.
So as far as limiting Cube production I would be OK with this as an option as long as ONLY the AI is affected by this limitation. Human opponents are ALREADY limited because they have to mine for a lot of resources before they finally get even one cube.
C'mon people it's called MERCILESS AI for a reason. If it's too much to handle play the other settings...

I remember saying that early into the thread. It's still going onto a second page.

I rest my case...

The Dominion Dreadnaght can only be build twice. Shouldn't we limit the Borg aswell?

The Dreadnought is a mixed-tech ship, something the Borg don't use. Unless you want the Cube to be demoted to a mixed-tech only design?

Like Tyler said the Dominion Dreadnought is mixed tech. The Cube is not. Should we limit the Negh'var based on the same logic (or any other faction battleship)? The Borg are not overpowered, the Cube is not overpowered. A Cube costs minimally around 4000 dil: build 8 Intrepids and 2 Canaverals for about the same cost and you'll have destroyed that Cube, maybe losing 2 or 3 vessels at most. Fleet Operations is all about using balanced fleets in the right combinations.

Can a Negh'Var Destroy a fleet of 40 starships?

Well, unless you are putting all your ships to green alert--neither can a Cube

borg are a little under powered and cud do with sum sort of further customisation,or maybe the abilities to absorb ather special weapons from a2

How about we make the cube a godship and limit it to 3
