Heheh yeah you're right.  From what's been revealed it sounds like the Borg redo should be pretty cool   .

  I'm guessing though that, since things like the Relay Dode Turret concept are available now, some cool parts should be able to come sooner than the whole redo .

  Borg have become so much cooler recently anyway!  Dodes, Dode Turrets, EM Scubes, so I'm sure it will only get better .  Borg can still compete relatively well now so there's no rush in my opinion.

The next patch won't include a full Borg redo, but it will include a number of early game changes to vessel configurations that were not used too much and will give you more flexibility in how you play as the Borg

Hmm, probably some cool stuff for beam SCube  .
I'm not sure if the Dode needs much tweaking once it's subsystem disabler works again. But I'm excited about the new Adaptor  .

the roms are the race with the ability to refit some ships.

if u make talshiar facility, then the small yard can make the generix class, a medium sized and ranged beam armed cruiser. if u then research a refit at the talshiar facility, you can refit the base generix into refits. each of which increases stats. there are 3:

frigate: gets 2 new particle cannons that will behave like pulses when they are fixed, currently they dont behave like pulses and as such are slightly too good. these are great at killing miners and small stuff, doing extra damage to weak defence ships. they have special energy, but nothing to spend it on. takes reduced damage from pulses, so klingons die to the genfrig. its not very expensive.

spectre: gets 2 new standard pulse disruptors, is really really really slow. takes reduced damage from torpedos, so feds beware of the genspec. has a special called combat cloak, which complements it very well. the spec is tough as nails, hard to kill, and its special keeps its shields up while cloaking/cloaked costing special energy, which makes these guys a pain to kill. clever use of special weapons/decloak is a must. have a high crew, which will annoy auto assim. slow as molasses, dont position these poorly or you'll be forever flying in circles. these guys are dirt cheap and hard to kill, a good start if u are used to playing as feds and wanna try roms.

support: gets no additional weapons, but gets 3 specials, which are useful. plasma bolt disables weapons like critical shot, shield recharge, you dont get points for guessing, recharges shields. and the mine button drops a mine, which can be used in many ways. counts as a support ship so will tank adai ships.

all gens are useful, if u see someone go for talshiar facility before warbird yard then its very likely you will see gens. the only other thing they could want is serkas, which arent seen often.

they have variety, but once you pick a strat, you are forced to stick with it for a while, it costs a lot to switch between them. going fast generix leaves it very expensive to change to leahvals/griffins/early cehlaer because they need research institute. and vice versa, if u go for leahvals (a very common strat) then it can cost a bit to then buy talshiar and go generix, although sometimes its your best choice say if the enemy spams shrikes some frigs would be useful. likewise if u pick a rhienn refit strat (which demands upgrade facility, which demands research institute) switching to gens would be tricky.
