Bring back self destruction

You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

Well, you don't want mighty weapons to fall into enemy hands... especially Borg have the problem that cubes can easily be captured after having drained their crew with certain special weapons. Self destruction would be very useful to give players the opportunity to avoid this.

Maybe like in stock A2: activate, wait few secs, boom!

Good idea , especially for big ships.

I'd put in on all ships, it keeps the Borg from Assimilating them.

Like in the borg mission of A1 where the Locutus attacks the Roms. The roms too tried just that. But like realistic self-destruct, there is a timeframe in which the ship blows up.

U want to blow up the ships up - ure doing the borg's work for them
U wait a little longer and the borg or tavara boarding party can disarm the self-destruct.

This dynamic would fit in nicely with the recent suggestion to have repairs cos resources - would make the game more interesting.

also - this would only apply to the battleship class not Akiras or Vorchas.

So yeah, you can put it on all your ships, and then the borg can simply assimilate your bases themselves lol  :D

The stock self destruct lasts 5 seconds, good luck taking the ship and disarming it in that time. Why would only battleships have it? sounds like faulty balance to me.

self destruct makes sense ... specally after i got a neg'var with 10 sabers ... (life system damaged etc ... and i found the ship and captured it)

Well, i would increase the "crew suck" rate then (yeah, i just say that).

Or increase the size of the bording parties. What are they right now? 3 people. Unusually small considering we have troop ships that use that number. Holding beams don't send many people.

guess you never captured a ship in the locutus rom mission.lol
ok. Most of us here have. So it would notbe wise to judge a feature based on one's own inadequacies. ;)

As regards only battleships, cos we dont want all ships blowing up in our faces. pretty much dumbs down the game.

but then again if u never captured a rom wabird in the locutus mission that had its self destruct enabled, that pretty much says it all doesnt it ;)

good luck lol

Why? how many do you want? doesn' make sense to change the already balanced dynamics. After all, isn't balancing all what this is about  :whistling:

That's your logic, mine is; too much balance = Voyager.

What do you mean? In stock A1 & A2, most of my ships and stations were from the other races.

In the borg's second mission. the one where locutus started attacking the romulan base to recove omega. the first few waves of warbirds that come at you are rigged to blow with self destruct on when u assimilate them
u had to act quickly to disarm them. they were disarmable.

So i dont see wat the big deal with 5 seconds is!?

5 seconds? I didn't mean the 5 seconds were faulty balance, just putting it on a single type of ship. I like the 5 seconds, you can set it and watch it blow up on the way back to the enemy base.
