borg too powerful

You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

What the Borg need is a Turret that Auto-Assimilates passing ships. An uncrewed station with a slower working version of the Assimilators weapon.

Maybe. but if we balance the other races like the Tav shields (and again for the record the tav firepower is not an issue, if the shields were toned down), as well as have somehting in place for the borg due to their particularly slow development rate in order to counter the fed/kling spam rate - nothing much mybe just bump up the scout cube a bit - say even replace it with a stronger interceptor style ship the borg would be good to go.

Certainly do not want to diminish borg strength in any way. doing so would make them non-borg... just a bunch of A1-style expensive sovs.... no fun in that

yep we are aware of the issue that having only a few vessels (like the borg usually have) has some disadvantages too. we are currently working on implementations here. The first step was the interception module for the Scout Cube.
The basic Borg style itself wont be changed, cause we are quite happy with it :borg:

yup. good to hear. the Borg are good as is.
the resource mining delays and early defense measures were my only concerns.

I LOVE playing as the borg. I haven't really done it in a while, b/c of school, but I LOVED playing them more than playing the Feds, which is new for me. It's like I'm ACTUALLY playing the Borg...well...close enough :D

I'm sorry but the Cube under powered is horse shit.

I just played a 4 player game against 4 AI's and Wiped the floor with all 4 bases with 4 Cubes.

Each cube had killed at least a 100 ships each.

That was without Nanites, Just using 1 Beam, 2 torps, 1 Assim, 2 Hull

I went damage and Boarding parties with the Assim avatar and absolutely obliterated them it felt like wolf 359 there were derelicts everywhere by the end of the battle I had 2 fleet's worth of Captured vessels.

I love the borg Now  :borg:

@ Acidpunk: No special weapons for the cubes and Hard AI's?

The borg are perfect as is.
We just need to adjust the resource collecting method - station that constantly streams resources at a certain rate.
and maybe make the scout cube a little more interesting.

Other than that the borg are perfect.  :borg:

The specials were Holding Beams + Boarding Party that's it.

The only trouble I'm having right this second is trying to beat 3v1 vs Medium ai's but it's just tooo many ships, I had a bunch of assimilators and a starbase holding out for 20mins without reinforcements assimilated a hell of a lot but in the end you can't get round 5 Tavara's + non stop Sovvies and Sangs.

( What I mean is I can beat them fine when they aren't teamed up but when they are it's wave after wave that never ends )

Indeed it is.
Might I recommend the devastating attack and slicer beam upgrades? They make quick work of any ship... especially Tavaras  :shifty: (the loss of shields plus the quickly damaging slicer beam is horrid for them) ... I should try the holding beam and boarding party though  :whistling:

Teamed up AI's generally is painful as all their ships just rush into your base w/o even stopping to kill your ships.... then you have to chase them aaargh.

Yeah that's what's pretty frustrating, Yeah I definitely Might have to go with the slicer or devestating but I just love when you have boarding parties and Holding beams that you leave such destruction in your wake it's awesome.

I suppose the only downside is rushing to get that sphere up quick so you won't die, Like right now I'm ingame and I haven't seen the Hard AI Fed yet and I'm borg I'm just about ready to get a sphere up in roughly 3-4mins but I know by the time I do that I'm gonna have a fleet of Sovvies after me.

I wish there was a real stop gap because right now the scout cube just seems to be a bit useless.

....assimilators are pretty good

The trick (sometimes) with AI is not to attack or scout... otherwise they seem to attack faster  :sweatdrop:

Yeah I tend to just try and build up, what just screwed me up now is that I just couldn't get to a cube in time, ended with 77 Priority but Lost all my spheres and Assim's.

The enemy fleet was so large that even a whole fleet of Assims + spheres couldn't deal.

Sometimes it's just bad luck

146 Fed ships to 48 of mine.

Funny, I had 2 Tactical Cubes and 10 Starfleet ahips slaughtered them before I could even select a special to use.

:borg:...don't think this is true

10 Star Fleet Ships will never have enough Attack value to kill 2 tactical Cubes.
Maybe you need 2 minutes to select a special weapon  and your cubes are on green alert...
