Borg are too weak

You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

Simply put, the Borg feel far too weak...

I mean, I know we can't make em as strong as they are in the show, but... well

When 2 Hard AI fleets of less than 3 dozen ships can take out 3 unimatrix's, half a dozen graviton relays, two sphers, and a tactical cube, there's a problem...

I think the issue lays in the fact that their base weapons seem rather underwhelming. Even fully upgraded, their starbase takes at least 6 hits to topple an Intrepid class... that seems just a little odd. A sovereign can withstand a dozen and a half impacts.

Maybe it's meant to be this way, but they just seem... weak?

U're mistake is that you used too many base defences. Use ships instead.

Also make note that the AI cheats, hard.

If you wish Kittamaru, join me for a game online and I can help you perhaps :)

Yeah, the AI will always out produce you.  In games against humans, the Borg have been quite the power. ^-^  In this patch, I would say that just about all the Borg modules are useful, and the smaller ships like scubes and probes are useful again as well.  I've liked the overall direction.  Optimize is particularly strong, because all of its ships get a nice cost reduction.  This gives them great flexibility.

I actually can't play online atm because I don't have an A2 disk... mine snapped in half a few months ago when I tripped over my *insert multiple expletives here* cat and fell on the box (very nearly face first)

Unless of course that doesn't matter?

It's always been my understanding that you can't play at all without the CD.  Unless you have the image mounted, which will allow you to play online.  My purchased copy of A2 is safe in a bank vault surrounded by armed guards and Dobermans.

Actually Mal+Kittamaru, you can play via LAN just fine (and IA) without the CD :) . So just install Hamachi or Wippien and we can work something out

Is it just the host that needs it?

Nobody should need it :) . I know I never use it anymore except in Gamespy games or to install a new patch.

Well, for wippien and hamachi, if the host didn't have the cd in, then there would be a message stating that.  And I remember back when I played Lan games in 3pr, that I needed my own cd.  Did something change, or am I on crack?  Or maybe both? :sweatdrop:

Yeah, it seemed to changed back after 3.0.5a: one day I forgot to put in my CD, and after that ... :)

Hmm... if I try to hit launch in the lobby as either host or guest it says publicly (much to my chagrin) that I need to insert A2.  I don't think it's something that Fleetops itself has changed ...

Maybe your Demi-Godlike powers are simply too much for your system Dom.  It just gave up and decided to work no matter what.

Once you have over 6000 posts, you no longer need a cd. :D

It's like an unlockable achievement that you often see on most modern games. :innocent:

So you don't need a disc to play Instant Action?

If so, then why does my game moan when I don't have the disc inserted? or is this a no-cd crack?

^-^

Ok, I guess with that evidence, ignore what my comments earlier - but still, I mean I just opened up a game in Instant Action and in Wippien... and I could play without the CD  :sweatdrop: . Maybe something got screwed up with my system? I have no, no-cd cracks... sooo  . Very good.
