are fed fighters short range?

You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

So another question regarding the frighters...what is the counter for B5 spam...they tend to be really cheap, are short ranged, fast and hard to kill. Especially as Fed I almost always lose against them. I tried a mix of Intrepids (vs Bugs + Torps) and Sabers (for fighters) but no matter what, the fighters respawn extremly fast, are not auto tagged first (afaik) etc. And once the B5 limit is reached the Dom player switches to B8 to counter my Sabers (advantage of many phasers gone)...if I switch to Monsoons then they are countered well by B5 again.

It would be cool, if the Avalon-class could re-counter the B5. But this only works for Risner.

With Mayson, you could go Norway and do plasma coil... I think. Dont know if its strong enough to kill off the fighters, but it may be worth a try.

We will probably add a "flak" weapon in some way for each faction for defense purpose. In addition, fighters will now share the weapon characteristics of their carrier. That means that avalon fighters will be considered long-range for the purpose of damage calculation, to avoid counter-counters ^-^

that however is not good for the Feds since the Breen B5 is SR. And the Feds lack a SR counter. The Monsoon is usually used to counter small SR ships since it has this nice torpedo but in this case it will not work vs the B5. But a Flak might not be a good idea imo.

I would prefer a supply cost of 1 for every fighter respawned. Or any other already-ingame feature instead of an additional one (i.e. flak).

sabre with hyper impulse on takes reduced damage from sr.

defiant and sov take far less damage from sr.

plasma coil is already kinda like flak

The Canaveral also does increased damage to short-range targets. They're not mobile, but several Fed Turrets defend well against short-range due to having the same armor that the Defiant and Sovereign have.

i forgot about the cananveral lol

it is kinda weak, but against sr with ec3m on it is ok.

Tier 3 ships are no real counter in a 1v1 against a Dominion going B5. It takes far to long to get significant firepower. The Canaveral seems good in theory but it dies horribly fast (some mixed in T15 are sufficient).

never heard about this...they suffer 15% less from pulses but afaik they dont take less damage from SR.

You're aware the Canaveral is a support ship, right? As in something that's supposed to be in a fleet to cover it, not something to rely on by itself.

i wasnt talking about rushes/starting strats, i was talking in general. even your post didnt mention this, it just mentioned b5.

when hyper impulse is active sabres dodge 25% of pulses.

they used to receive 25% less damage from sr as well, that may have been changed. if it has been changed then it doesnt really help vs b5 fighter beams.
