can the old maps still b opened in map editor or not

not in the version included in the next patch for Fleet Operations. as DOCa stated a compatibility mode is perhaps possible for the patch project

Segestion change the map editor so that it opens the old files only and then saves as the new format. Then you can do a simple convert of the old maps and put them out as an update, mod or patch. You could also put the tool out as a mod so that pepole could convert other maps to FO format.
