Ok, so I'm not exactly sure if its just the imitations of the A2 engine or a game issue but here goes: My brother and I were playing a game versus some hard A.I. and they had made a sick amount of ships....I'd probably say 10 full fleets+ and there were 2 A.I. teamed up against us. So in my base (I'm a turtler by default) I had turrets surrounding me....probably 50 to 60 of them bunched in an area. So when both A.I. attacked me it seemed like my turrets AND ships wouldn't fire. It seemed that a lot of the A.I. ships weren't firing either. The few that were managed to wipe out everything. lol it was quite humerous. about half the A.I. ships were cloaked and it seemed as if they were trying to uncloak but couldn't...if that makes any sense.
I thought, at first, it might be my computer. But after my "almost defeat" (They destroyed my towers and ships and left the rest of my lower base intact.) but then the same thing happened on my brother's computer which I just put together and is absurdly overpowered. So is this just a memory limitation of the engine or a glitch? I'm just curious and, if it was a glitch, bring it to dev's attention.
Rest assured people....we ended up winning. Just in case you were interested.
Borg+Feds rule. :-p

yes, its a known bug that sometimes occurs with the ai. we are still trying to figure out why the ai does this, but haven't a clue yet
interesting that your ships weren't firing, that's the first time that someone reported this issue...hm

i have heard, but not seen, that if there are a lot cloaked vessels on screen that effects tend to disappear, so maybe that was that, like you said that the effects just weren't displayed

Actually, you only need a few cloaked vessels: around 8-10 for this problem to occur. There is one map with nebulas and asteroid all around the center in a square-ish shape (4 player map with two moon pairs surrounding each player starting position). If you send a few cloaked ships near the nebulas, the nebulas disappear ... but if you move away from the ships, the ships disappear and nebulas reappear. On other maps it seems to take many more ships to get such errors.
