I'm new here, and I just downloaded my PR version of FleetOps (v3).  I had the same 'decoder' error as discussed previously.  I have the latest release of the game, and I can't get past the decoder error.  And if I cancel the decoder using the Task Manager, the game finishes it's install.  However, the game will not load properly.  It won't even get past the splash screen.  Is there an issue with my version of the game, or is there something I missed.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

the final version of version 3 has vista support. there are two major bugs in the installer and the launcher preventing fleet operations to work on vista.

So there's really nothing that we Vista users can do, except wait for the final release?

i don't know. i do not use vista yet. so if there is a way, vista users may have the answer.

it can't be to far off

It better not be too far off.

I've been itching to get my hands on the final release since day one of the Beta 2 test...

It's quite funny because Windows should be Windows. Usually that's what one expects of a product.
Which version of Vista do you use? Never try "Home Basic" or "Home Premium". As far as I can tell by experience both aren't really worth the money you have to spent for. They are only causing trouble.
I'd suggest Vista Ultimate (OEM). It's not too expensive and seems to work fine. At least I haven't met anyone complaining about it. But if it is an option for you, take your XP-CD and think about using Vista again in some months or even later. By then things could be better (patches etc).

it may work with full administrator rights and disabled uac as vista users usually get "File access denied." exceptions (in debug reports i received) when trying to start the launcher.

If you want to install it on Vista, try installing it into your Documents folder, for some reason that actually works.

thats a good idea!  install it in shared doc.  then see what happens

Just tried that, it still didn't work.  Got farther into the debugger though before it crashed... >:(

Yeah, I guess we Vista users are going to have to wait for the final release.  Doca says that it should work, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed none-the-less.

atleast the current development version runs fine in a virtual machine with vista's UAC enabled.

anyway, i haven't found out what i causing the loader problems on vista anyway. it should have worked atleast after disabling UAC

Fraking Vista! What is UAC and how do you disable it for FleetOps?
