ST:Armada II crashes on saving progress

I was able to re-install my copy of Star Trek: armada II on my Windows 10 system with no issues. I have installed the patch as well. I am able to play the first Fed mission, "Invasion." But, when I go to save my progress, the game crashes. Has anyone else experienced this? is there a fairly easy fix?

Please help!

I have Windows 7 and everything works just fine :-)

Well, bully for you on that. how, precisely, does that resolve the issue for which I posted above??

OK; I finally managed to resolve the issue myself. The game is operating as it should now. I want to thank all the people that assisted.
