Howdy! I'm the same guy who used to post as Kaiser von Tiberius if any of you remember that. Forgot the PW to that account and lost the email address associated with it to identity theft.

Anyway I wanted to submit a bug report. When playing as Federation or Borg (haven't tested other races but I'm assuming it'll be the same for them) as soon as I start mining resources, all sounds except for the mining beam sound and weapon noises cut out. No music, no voice overs, nothing. Its not really a big deal for me, as I just listen to Led Zeppelin or something anyway, but I thought it should be reported.

I've manipulated the sound channels, hard ware acceleration and a few other settings outside the game to no avail.

I use a pair of SLI linked Nvidia 8800 GTs, a basic sound blaster audio card, an ASUS SLI motherboard and an AMD 6000+ Windsor Core proccy. Other information can be provided upon request.

check your emails tiberius, i have fixed your old account.
now about the sound issue. when has this problem occurred the first time? do you have similar issues in other games?

you could try to reset your sound settings. to do that, just delete your fleet operations configurations file.
You can find your configuration file under XP
C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataStar Trek Armada II Fleet OperationsFOData.ini
or Vista/7
C:UsersAppDataRoamingStar Trek Armada II Fleet OperationsFOData.ini

note that these folders may be hidden in the default configuration of Windows.

if the problem then still persists...(copy and paste number two :P)
...a DirectX log would be helpful

XP: click Start - Run type dxdiag click OK. Wait until the program is loaded, then, on the bottom of the window, click Save All Information... save the file and attach it to the forum please.

Vista/7: click the Start Button on the taskbar. In the search box type dxdiag. Press Enter key. Wait until the program is loaded, then, on the bottom of the window, click Save All Information... save the file and attach it to the forum please.

on a side note the upcoming patch will feature an overhaul to the sound engine which may also fix your current issues
