OK, whenever I set my ships to S&D, they tend to run as fast as they can to the nearest asteroid field and just stay there, is there any way to keep that from occuring
? Kinda off topic, but in the next release who would the avatars be for the borg? (My guess would be queen/Locutus...)

No idea how to fix that. (I usually tell the scout myself to choose another direction if it ran into an asteroid field.) But I think they are working on it if there is a way to fix it.
There will be a directive perfection and a directive assimilation for the Borg.
Since the new site is online I haven't seen it, but on the old site there were detailed information about the races and their planned Avatars.
Maybe they'll put it back online?

they should go off in any given direction, however what you are saying may be linked to wormholes (which they will not use under S&D). are you playing a map with a few wormholes? namely in an area only accessable by one? if not you should find that the unit will change its mind and head off in another direction. unfortunately this is an anoyying aspect of both Stock and modified A2

why the sarcasm? if they have time, they can do it, otherwise its no big deal really. It has been brought up inside topics enough timesMaybe they'll put it back online?

There's no sarcasm at all in asking if the team puts this page online again. If they have the time to do it, they'll do it. If they don't have time, they won't.
It would be nice if they did, because for those who are new to FO, it would give some nice information about what is already done in the PR and what we can expect to come in the final release concerning the avatars.
It was a simple question with no criticism in it at all.

I usually notice this the most on the Tic-Tac-Toe board...

tic tac toe is a fun map but i find it best for pvp, rather than ai. as ai will often gather any previously damaged vessels around their base wormhole and stay there. for some reason the AI doesnt "see" the asteroid belts, so thats why your getting that problem (probably get the same result by putting a unit on scout mode as well).
on maps like tic tac toe the S&D function isnt quite so important since the map is nicely broken up into tidy sections, so my best advice is to just ignore it, on maps with sections cut off via wormholes.
@ Seer the rolleyes smiley depicts sarcasm..

Thanks for making that clear.
In my opinion there was/is nothing sarcastic about that smiley.
Let's forget about it.
