My wife and I have played ST Armada 2 with my father and brother over the Manual IP Multi-Player setting several different times. We have tried to play FO the same way with the same computer setups as before. Although my wife and I can see and join the game I am hosting my father and brother cannot see the game.
Nothing else has changed other than it being FO instead of the stock Armada 2. Any ideas? I would be happy to provide any more technical info if needed.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

are you trying to host a lan or an internet game?

I was trying to host an Internet game. I can successfully host an LAN game as my wife and I play that way all the time. It was only when I tried to host an Internet game that we had problems. Although after the Internet attempt we went back to playing over the LAN and then we had continuous Out Of Sync errors. Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.

i hope you have 3.0.5a installed regarding those out of sync issues
in order to host games on the internet it is necessary to forward some ports from your router to your machine that armada runs on. these are detailed when you click the help button in the lobby screen or take a look into the nethelp.txt from the data directory

I'll check all of the ports again to see if I have them open on my router. I did set those up before, but it never hurts to double check.

I know lots of us play private gamespy games as well as vpn's set up over hamachi. Its strange you only got the out-of-sync errors in lan after attempting to play over manual i.p. I agree w/ Doca and check to make sure you have 3.0.5a installed.

DirectPlay 8 Ports:
2300 - 2400 UDP
6073 TCP
GameSpy Ports:
6500 UDP
13139 UDP
27900 UDP
these have to be forwarded to your computer, then it should work

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Yes I have the latest version installed 3.05a. I forwarded all of the necessary ports and double checked that they were indeed forwarding. Still no go on manual IP. >:(
I even tried DMZing the computer to see if that would work and still nothing. Any other ideas?
P.S. I figured out that my out of sync errors were due to not having the gaming mode enabled on my router. Changed that and no further problems with out of sync errors over gamespy. I still want to get the manual IP working though.

maybe the issue is not on your side, but on the computers that are trying to join your game. maybe the windows firewall or another software firewall blocks armada's connections to you.

This is basically the same problem I described here. Direct IP join doesn't even work on a LAN for me. I have not tested this since 3.0.5 but I'll put that on my to do list.

I checked with the latest version and the same problem happens with two computers on the same network.

I'm happy to report the issue is gone, finally got a game up with a friend last night and we were able to connect (with our DNS Entries instead of IPs) without a glitch. Thanks guys!
