Firstly, I'm not at all sure that this is the right place - if not, could a kindly mod please move it  :innocent:

Anyways, I downloaded the new patch just now; installed and everything and was eager to test out two things: the new odf archive, and the mods sub-directory thingy. I managed to get it all worked out and everything - but noticed a couple of things. Not sure if they were intentional, or if it was simple oversight.

1) The ODF.fpq is organised oddly inside. All of the files are in the main directory, and the odf and odf/system folders are empty.

I think that this leads to:

2) Changed odf.s need to go in the actual root directory of the mod in order to function. I would have thought that an odf/system folder would be needed in the mod directory; but the only way I could get it to function was by putting it in the mod folder it self.

As I say, I wasn't sure whether to put this under the 'Modifications' or 'Technical Stuff' section; as while it mainly effects modders it could be a bug and need to be addressed as such.

Aside from that, I have to say a big well done to the FLOPS team

Speaking of the 'mod' program; does it work with non-text files (like AdmiralsLog images...) or add a small description?

If I understand you correctly, you mean adding an image or something with the same filename as the stock FO one to overwrite it: that will work :)

Excellent. How? Everythng I add to mine is overwritten by the stock... no matter where they are put.

as test create the following file to replace your startup screen bitmap DataMods-yourmod-bitmapsmainmainbkgr.png (or bmp)
works for me this way in my test mod

edit: oh, and yes, the odf.fpq organisation is a bug :) a faulty script lead to this. this gives various problems when creating mods right now.

Worked. I guess the 'Data' folder was the problem... I had that in it.

EDIT: Funny thing just happened; ranked a Galaxy up to lv5 to test then saved, came back in via a shortcut to check the images (forgot them and only checked the name) and the Galaxy split into 5 ships when starting the map. All the same name and 1 for each rank.
