Greetings,
I have been playing fleet ops for a few months now, I haven't had the gull to go online with the community yet, but have been enjoying a few matches with some friends I introduced to the game. Recently I moved back to school and now when we try to play fleet ops, we have issues with joining our game when we try to play. I don't know if it has something to do with the school network or if it is a bun in game (we use the Manual IP feature of the game install itself). Anyway, what happens is whenever I join the host's game, my other friend gets booted or I cannot join unless he leaves and the same happens to him when I am in. We have tried restarted fleet ops several times, playing with firewall settings, using different hosts and the like and none of our attempts have worked.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
I express gratitude in advance for any assistance that can be provided.

Have you tried using a VPN protocol like Tunngle?

I have not, and my friends don't seem to want to use it because they seem to think it will hog ram or something like that. I do not know exactly how much if any meaningful amount of RAM tunngle uses, but when I have used it to observe another game (only once though) I had no issues.

tunngle isnt a hungry program. it's interface is a bit clumsy to use, but otherwise it isnt offensive in any way. when tunngle's gui isnt running the windows service that tunngle installs uses less than half a mb, and thats on my 64 bit system. less than half a mb is nothing when a gb of ram is under a tenner.

I am going to try some port forwarding with the new Router my roommate installed, seeing as it solved another problem I had with TF2. That being the case, is there a particular forwarding port(s) I should use for fleet ops or just the Armada 2 ones? (or something else I haven't considered)

For manual IP without any VPN you require a number of ports to be open - Gamespy and Manual IP - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations . A VPN requires just a single port to be open, or none at all if you are lucky
