loud odd noise

so i'm playing a game (or 4) this weekend, and ¼ of the way through the game, there is this god awful noise.  like a super loud buzzing sound.  i shut off the speakers, finished.  started a new game.  the sound was fine untill i blew up a borg nexus, same noise again.  does this sound familiar to anyone?  does anyone out there have a suggestion as to what to do (other than "dont destroy the borg hub")

Perhaps check your drivers, or reinstall Fleet Operations?

I've had a similar problem before, all I had to do though was restart my pc.
