Defragging? this would make very little difference to your fps if not no difference to your fps, to improve this get a good graphics card or lower graphical detail.

Im with Kestrel on this one. Defragging may help your load times and fix hard drive thrashing.... but thats about it.

shut down stuff in the background. antivirus for instance isnt necessary while gaming.

Personally i would just turn down the AA a notch or two and leave my AV up. Bad things happen when thats off.
