Ok so Im trying to run Armada 2 (regular) and the only recent change is that I now have 4 HDD's configured as RAID 0 since the last time I played.  It goes all the way to the game screen (instant action) and the game just locks up, sometime it will try to run but the mouse has no control on the game screen, the mouse works fine otherwise.  I have to turn it off in the task manager.  I download all of the patches and run them and reinstall the game.  same thing.  so I try your mod.  I download it and all of the patches and extras and I try to install it and I get so far and it just freezes. It wont go any further and it wont go away unless I do the task manager thing again.  I get the following error message:

HEEEEEEEELLLLP!!!!  :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby:

Im running WinVista on a PC very capable of playing this (or any) game.

Welcome to the forums, Dave :)

As for regular armada, I can see by your screenshot that the unofficial patch is not installed. Get it from here, as it helps a lot with compatibility and performance: Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Star Trek Armada II: Patch Project

As for the installation error, I'm sure that DOCa Cola will provide an answer.

This error is due to the .map not being replaced I think... I suggest that you go to this thread Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Updated beta loader - Vista compatibility
and do as it says: I was able to play after reading this carefully! Good luck

Hi everyone

OK so i completely uninstalled everything Trek off of my machine.  I restarted in safe mode and installed Armada II (OEM), patch 1.1, and the "unofficial" patch 1.2.  Then I installed Armada II fleetops, the fleetops patch, and the multimedia pack.  I opened up the directory and deleted that scourge otherwise known as FleetOps.map and copied over the three files located in the zip file on the first post in this thread.  Doing so obviuosly overwrote the 2 existing files in the directory with the same names.  I then restarted to get out of safe mode and tried to run the games.  I started with Armada II (OEM) and this is as far as I could get before the darn thing froze up on me again:

So then I tried the FleetOps mod and when I tried to run it, this happened:

And while I dont know if this will help, here is a copy of the general tab on the bug report:

I am pretty much at the end of my rope here.  I dont know what else to do but stop playing this game and go back to playing Homeworld or Red Alert for my RTS fix.  I hope one of you has an idea otherwise I have a gently used Copy of Armada II that may come up of sale.

Ok... well I don't know about Armada II, but I have gotten the second error in the past as well (this may account for both as well). If you have a XP machine available, install armada on that, copy the files, put them on the vista machine (after removing A2 and FO) and do the fleet operations .map replacement. ALSO, important, move the startrek data OUT OF UAC onto your documents. Just make sure that none of the data is inside program files, because otherwise that error might occur (just move the A2 folder). In fact, I forgot to mention this, but before you begin this lengthy process you might consider just moving A2 files and FO files out of program files and into your documents folder; this should hopefully rid you of the error... if not you can try the above method. Good luck... this is what I did, and it did work... so hopefully it should work for you!

yea, installation does not work on vista. you need to install fleet operations on a xp machine and copy the folder to your vista machine. install the latest fleet operations patch and then the unofficial patch here from this thread Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Updated beta loader - Vista compatibility
all this will be fixed in v3 final

Oh come on Ewm, lighten up; Vista ain't all that bad  :whistling:
Think positive thoughts. It is the holidays after all. All OS systems have some kinks to work out when they are supporting so many programs/bits of software.

The Operating system is a kink. If it was a madder of kinks people would not have to downgrade to run old software..

What big benefits did Microsoft come up with that one uses every day?

My Social Teacher just installed Leopard on his MacBook and it killed it. Lol.

I've never seen a Mac Fail like that, but hey, all is possible right?

Also, Vista isn't all bad.
