Devtech?

I'm a noob it seems, but what exactly is the purpose of devtech? I know it isn't selectable in-gane as far as I know - and it's, obviously, for the devs, but what exactly does it do?

Also, are there supposed to be more techs, because there are a whole bunch of ---'s after free tech in the list, and I was wondering if they were a placeholder kind-of thing.

there are ways to add more techtrees you need to add them to techlvl.odf and add there name i think in label.map

It'll be used for more stuff in the future, but it allows you to access features that are restricted by freetech. Freetech is still designed to allow you to play, but devtech is designed for testing (so gives access to absolutely every technology, regardless of logic).

The extra ----'s will be removed in the future and are just a relic of A2's system .

Will fan-made techtrees still work? I assume they're simply being removed from the list and can be added back at will.

Yup, of course Almost everything in FO is designed to be backwards compatible
