Ok I have anoying problem with the map editor in 3.1.3. I have tried many times however I cannot pick starting positions in maps that I created in 3.1.3. Also I cannot pick starting positions in ANY included map that I edit.

Example:

I loaded up the included cube map in the map editor and changed a few things but DID NOT touch any of the starting positions. I then saved the map as cube2.bzn and loaded it up in instant action and could not select starting positions.

Example2: I opened up the included cube map(original) and just saved the map as cube2 without any editing and again could not select starting locations via instant action selection.

Example 3: I created a 20000 x 20000 map with just resource triggers and then placed 3 starting locations via alt click and named them Camera_1 , 2 , 3 etc...then set via the ctrl-r menu positions 4-8 as empty and set 1-3 as "player" and made sure that each starting position was just one point. I have been able to have start locations selectable that have 2 points but I know one point is best. But in any case after I saved the map I was still unable to select any starting loactions via instant action.

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Interesting, Funnystuff encountered this yesterday - I didn't have the same trouble however with his map, so I don't know what happened  :sweatdrop:

yeah it would only allow me to drop them in this one part of the map so I just had to drag them :D

Ok I tried this as sugested. On the map I created from scratch I can select only 1 of the 3 starting positions now. the other two are still un-selectable. Ironicly the only starting point selectable is the one named "Camera_1" The other two remain unselectable despite trying your sugestion multiple times.

I also tried your sugestion on the clone I made of the map named "Cube" and it did not work even after multiple attempts. And I made Zero alterations to that map other than saving a duplicate named cube2.bzn.

I appreciate the help offered and I appreciate that this is being looked into. I find it strange that just making a simple duplicate of a map via the map editor breaks being able to select starting positions...yet many other people dont have this issue if Im corect in asuming that.

I have the same insues with patch 3.1.5
And i coud solve it. I only open the existing Map Picture in png formate and save it as Windows Bitmap (bmp). After that i can select the start position.

I have this same thing. I just figured it was cause I didn't know what I was doing. I was trying to put mckinley yards, with some prometheus and premonition class starships in a map, and then after I saved it, and went to play on it 1. the map once selected is not visible even after selecting reveal map map hidden etc. 2 there is no start position, and if i launch, when it loads the changes i've put in place do not exist.

is this the same type of thing, or is this different?

this is in current version, 3.1.5. edit*
