So I'm playing on 3.1.1 and everything is fine for the first 5 to 10 minutes. Then suddenly the game sounds start to break up.  Soon after this everything just turns into this loud, really annoying, static noise.

I know it isn't my sound because i was running music through iTunes and that was still playing fine.  The game sounds however were just spewing static at me.  Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

I suggest just redownloading the Multimedia pack.

Nothing like a good old reinstall

I encountered this too. Suddenly all sound is loud noise. I think I was in multiplayer then. It only occurred only once for me, in old version of fo (3.0.5a perhaps?). When I closed and reopened fo, the sound was normal again.

I think when I encountered  the problem I was on Windows 2000. The sound card was integrated in the motherboard (Intel chipset, SoundMAX drivers).

Most probable causes:
- Crappy Sound Card (No offense)
- Faulty Sound Card driver
- Electrical Interference from other devices turning your sound into Random Electronic Garble  :whistling: Are you sure the Breen aren't trying to communicate through your computer?
- Corruption of the sound files
- Corruption of the sound playing engine for the game (that would be a real mess)
- Some little kid spilled Coca Cola over your sound card making it not like Flt Ops. :P

I've been experiencing the same problem.  Playing instant action the audio begins acting strange after the first 5-10 minutes of gameplay.  Some of the sound effects still work, but the music and starship voices no longer work.  I've installed the media pack and performed a complete re-install twice.  I'm using a factory soundcard so nothing too fancy but I've not experienced any problems running any other programs or games.  I have however noticed that the audio problems usually begin as soon as you begin mining for elements during gameplay.  Very frustrating...any more suggestions please?

Hi,
I've got the same problem as the Gentleman two posts above. As soon as I start mining (or cloaking) all other sounds immediately disappear.

Need Hardware specs, or at least make and model to make a determination.

I once had issues with my soundcard so I updated my sound drivers and presto... good to go.

Still having audio problems when i begin mining, cloaking, etc.  Here is my sytem specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00Ghz 2.47Ghz
4GB Ram
Opperating System: Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pk 1 64bit
Video: ATI Radeon HD 3800 series 512MB
Sound: Realtek High Definition Audio, Driver Date 2/14/2008, Driver version 6.0.1.5567

I tried to update the audio driver software and it stated "Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date"
