I test a lot on Openfields, because the expansion is far away from the main base and is good for testing build orders when money is tight. Anyway, if you're in the top right, your expansion is to the left. If you start in the bottom left, you go to the right. Before, the computer understood this, but now it always seems to go to the top left first, so I either have to pick my starting location, or just send ships that way knowing I'm going to have to blow up the constructor and any station it builds.
Anyway, I figured I'd post it if it's an easy fix. Not sure how the AI responds to different maps.

Another observation with the AI is that they are not as aggressive with expansion anymore... seemingly they just stick to their 'area' until they are ready to rush you. I understand that mining for resources is not exactly necessary for the AI because they 'cheat' but it was cool before when you would try to expand to a moon pair and discover that they AI is already mining there. You would have to figure out how to clear them out and inevitably the AI would respond with an Attack when their miners were engaged.
Just wondering why they seem more static now

On Openfields they rush to all the resource points fairly fast. They seem to expand about as fast as I do. That and The very first map are the only ones I play against the AI, so maybe on other ones they don't expand as much. The AI is just "special" that way.
