Hi there!

Just wanna ask a few questions. :)

1. Yesterday i played FO 3.0.5 with a friend against 2 enemies, we set resources to infinite. But the two hard AI's didnt build any of there bigger ships, just the small ones. No big rushing i was waiting for. Is this a known bug? This behaviour only occurs with infinite resources.

2. My system is loaded with a 8800GTS and an 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo. But still, during explosions of Borg ships and ONLY Borg ships my friend and i experience HUGH slowdowns, down to 1-2 FPS...also a bug?

Anyway, thanks for this really great mod for A2!

i will check that infite resource bug :)

Yep Borg explosions somehow got to extensive, we are on the track of this flaw and hope to solve it asap

Hey thanks!

Just tried it again against a dominion medium AI in single player, same thing. He has enough resources to spam hundrets of ships...but only small attack waves with crappy ships.

It seems any large explosion causes the system to come to a screeching halt when playing multilayer. Borg explosions most notable. It wouldn't be much of a problem if it was just a slowdown than resume to 1x speed but alot of times, its a slow down to 0.1x speed than a sudden 3x speed. Compressing 15 seconds worth of game down to five.

I've played with an separate install tweaking explosions. I find removing the screen shake helps a bit, but overall isn't effective.

the problem is not the explosion or screen shaking but which model breaks up into pieces.

Ah, you mean too much debris flying around when a cubes explodes? Are you able to reduces the amount of debris? (Sure you are^^)

Anything new on the AI bug?

we are currently working on both the ai and the debris pieces. but i guess the debris thing will take a bit longer

Does the network code actually track the debris, as I mention, it is most notable in Multiplayer than in Instant Action. I know all machines involved can handle it (both are quad core).

no, the debris is different on each pc. only random events that are necessary are synced by armada. visual effects, that don't affect objects, are not synced and processed on each computer individually

Hm, im expieriencing those slowdowns in single player also. Same strength as in multiplayer. Well, compared to other races the borg ships leave a lot of debris behind their exploding vessels.

Please specify what OS do you use. My system slows down too, but only on vista, on xp is much better.

Hm, your guessing is correct, im on Vista Business 32bit...my friend too. Something from the OS? Hm, curious...

Vista consumes vastly more Ram than XP.  With Aero theme running, treat your Ram as being 1gb less than it really is, because Vista is using that much.  WIth Aero off, treat your ram as being between 250mb and 500mb less than it really is.

and dont expect too much of an improvement for Win7 either.
so get used to the heavier OS.
