Another very very very strange problem:
(Hope you don't mind me posting it here.)

I wanted to start the MapEditor and that here appeared on my screen:
A warning that MapEdit.exe is the trojan horse "TR/Dldr.Zlob.VV.2".
I use Avira AntiVir since.. dunno the century and I never had a similar problem until five minutes ago. So what? Or simply: How could this happen?

you know just because your Anti-virus software says something is a virus doesn't neccessarily mean it is one (not saying thats the case with this but you never know).
which mirrors did you people use?
im not getting any virus warnings in mine. i use AVG free edition anti virus s/w.

Ok i figured out that if you go into SafeMod you can install it and note that the decompresien will take a while and it may seem like it is doing nothing so i suggest turning up the priority to high not realtime.

if you dont no how to do that you hit control alt delete right click on fleetops install and say go to processor and then right click on that and click high and say yes to the box that pops up.

after a little investigation about zlob i found out that the virus is not a virus but malware that has quite similar characteristics as the map editor though the map editor doesn't extract malware file to your system but armada maps ;)
v3 final will feature a new map manager anyway, so no worries about the current one. it hasn't changed much since beta 2 and i am sure someone else would have screamed yet if he had a trojan whatever due to fleet operations on his system.

about safe mode. it could be actually your virus scanner blocking copying of the files as it is trying to read them simultaneously. most setups recommend (also those from microsoft, symantec etc etc) to disable you virus scanner temporary during install to avoid problems. that may be actually the case here though i never experienced such problems myself. i use nod32 btw and never detected any virus in fleet operations ;) also, the executables like the map manager or loader have crc checks. as soon as a trojan attaches to one of the files you would get a message saying that the crc checksum is invalid. as that is not the case i am sure that's just a mistake by your anti virus program.

nope, i just asked because someone else reported the same problem using alcohol 120%.

anyway, someone had the same issue, so i will now just quote him and hope that this will help you, as i cannot reproduce the problem here.

DOCa Cola

I use alcohol 120% for mine, ther's no way im putting my cd in to my drives it's practacly impossible to find a copy, alway it all works fine for me, and i have other images of disks load in at the same time, plus 3 physical cd/dvd drives everything works smoothly for me? just incase people were worried as they had 120%

yes, i think that problem was related to his anti-virus not by alcohol 120%... i will recommend the next one with this issue to disable his av temporary to install it and see if it works

A new map editor? Yay! For some reason, I cant get the F# keys to preform the designated functions in the editor, so could the new one either a. use different keys or b. use a different system altogather?

no, a new map manager, sorry. took the wrong word...

Well, could we have a reworked interface for the editor, too? Y'know, substituting F1, F2, F3, etc. with just 1, 2, 3, etc.?

i think there is no need to change the hotkeys. they would possibly interfere with the existing keys

Would it hurt that much? Because of those stupid keys I can't use the editor. -_-

To bring up something completely different B) :

I've got a problem concerning the sound effects of FO.
If I decide to disassemble a starship and the process starts I can hear the appropriate sound. But after the decomission is complete it doesn't stop and cheers me up till the end of the game.

Does this sound ( Sry.... ) familiar to anyone of you?
