5.1 sound issue

Hi,

unfortunately I still have the same sound problem as in the CBs.
When I start a game, I get clear stereo sound and music from the front left and right speakers of my 5.1 system.

After 1-2 minutes, sound is interrupted for a second, and switches from stereo sound of the left and right speakers to awful MONO sound coming from the middle front speaker only!

I have installed the latest available sound drivers from Creative (X-Fi XtremeGamer) for Vista x64, and my sound system is fully functional, no problems in other situations.

Maybe it's an issue with the missing DirectSound-Hardware-support in Vista? I could try it with Alchemy, but I don't know in which folder I have to put the dsound-wrapper files.

hm, the wrapper files should go into the data directory...

@Meredith
Creative Alchemy translates DirectSound to OpenAL, so that the application can access the sound hardware directly in Vista.

@DOCa
It works and solved the problem!  :thumbsup:
But I have to start FleetOps as an administrator when the wrapper files are installed, otherwise it crashes on startup.

Sry I must correct myself. It works in single player. For multiplayer I have to remove the alchemy wrapper. If I try to host or join a game with the files in place, I get a CTD which asks me if I want to send a report to you.

i have 2 other  sound problems,
the sound in the menu by clicking on any button is so extremly loud although the sound settings are at minimum.

I often talk via Teamspeak during matches, but in fight you can't hear anything via TS because the battle sound is so loud.
