does anyone of you know a good countermesuar(gegenmaßnahme^^) against serkas?
i played as borg against romies, and the quadcobalt torpedoes slaughtered my cubes. (it was a tactical-holding beam-regeneration cube) how could i counter this, espacially, if the enemy ses silent resolve to attack me without me sseing this?

i wouldnt use the holding beam module and instead another torp or beam module, or i would use spheres, one or two with a prime module and the rest of them with full beam weapons config. or a fleet of assimilators with maxed assimilation config (depending on the doctrine).

plus, techwise -> slicer, devastating attack, partial adaption, nanites and sensor relay.
if you use the relay wisely he cant go anywhere without noticing.. and with a fleet of full beam config spheres everyone of them is attacking up to 4 targets, and with the other 3 techs they shouldnt last that long.
and always keep your ships moving towards them. the shots of the serkas need some time to hit the targets-place, so he has to manually move and target a spot or they get shot to pieces pretty fast.

would the multiple beam spheres be able to focus their beams on one target?(just asking)
i mostly us holding beam cubes, beause they hold a big load of special energy and have a really high defense and regeneration rate^^
but the assimilator idea ... hmm.. never thought about that^^
will try it next time :D

umm.. more then one beam on a target... errr... now you got me.. i cant remember seeing a sphere firing more then 2 beams on one target at the same time.
anyways.. but for cubes, the reason why i pick another module is simple, cause of the bigger offensive value. in my opinion the special energy is big enough on that ship. plus, if you keep a few spheres around with a prime module (optimize) the enemy ships wont have much of their special energy left, so less powerful in combat. combined with nanites (to kill the small ships faster), and the dev-attack and the slicer for the bigger ships, you get a pretty ugly mixture for any oponent. the only real problem is to get that far in the game, cause most of my games seem to end when the first cube rolls out or even earlier, no matter if i win or lose in that one

You want to use units that are a good clip faster than a Serkas and have long range ideally. As Optimize I'd recommend 3x Regen 1x Prime Spheres to take the hurt and either beam + regen+ torp Assims or full auto assim Assims. If you are playing Assimilate, well, lots of assim Assims and some damage soaking torp, 2x regen, nanite Pyramids do the trick.

Why would you be making holding beam Cubes against artillery though? Slow + medium range+ low damage output... not a very good combination in my opinion.  :sweatdrop:

nope

i don't use the cubes against artillery, i just wanted to know if there is a way to rescue the rest of my little cubes before they die^^
also: thanks for your commens, will try this out!

and:woulnd't be a 2 regen 2 prime sphere more effective than a 3 regen 1 prime? i mean, becuase you hae more specoial energy. dunno how the cost/lifepoints differ from 2 to 3 regen modules..

You'll want all 3 regen modules, because the cost of the ability goes down.  With 3 modules, it's 100 per second, with only 2 I believe it's 200 per second.  So it's far more cost effective to have 3.  But don't be afraid to test things out man! :woot:  Some really good strategy and tactics have come from trying stupid things out with this game.  But I'm pretty confident that the 3x Regen/1 Prime is the way to go, especially in the early game when you want to keep your spheres alive.

I'll usually go with something like 2 regen, 2 beam spheres so that they have a bit more teeth and can still hold out a while.

I've gone over to the 1 phaser, 1 Prime, 2 Regen Sphere. Because the damage gets split so more beams isn't neccessarily better. (if my information is right that is)

Personally I like my cubes to be holding beam less. Slicer and devestating attack are both better options on special energy.

i just use the holding beam, because it highers the special energy and defense. the energy i use for slicer, dev.attack etc. without the holding beams, you have 200 or so special energy, but with them you have more than 4000 to use for your special attack. this way you can narly constantly spam nanites, dev.attacks and slicers..
