Hey Guys !

was wondering if anyone had strategy ideas against Klingon early game ships. I have a friend who likes to play with nothing but brel ships and rush mines. Is there a ship or strategy which anyone has found most effective when playing Romulans to stop the Klingon ships? would Generix do the job early game? i would greatly appreciate any help, thanks guys.

Welcome to the forums, gnatural. B'rels are not that powerful, a couple of Leahval should fend them off until you ca field some Generix frigate refit who will eat them alive. If your opponent is building K'vorts, build Leahval and research the special weapons for them. Most important, don't forget to repair your ships when damaged, because they are more expensive then klingons one and you can't afford to lose them. Hope to see you online.

Both leahvals and generix frigate refits are great against brels.  Brels take extra damage from short ranged ships, and the fact that the leahval can repair makes it very nice.  The Frigates are good because they do extra damage to ships with low defensive values, and take 50% less damage from pulse weapons.  Try them out and see which one you like best.  Right now the romulans cost too much and the fact that you have to immediately tech up to cruisers puts you at a disadvantage.  But it's still doable.

Atm any rom strategy will include Leahval and Spectre or Frigate refits...dont try other strats...in this patch they don't work...

build 1 or 2 Rhienns to interrupt mining. Then start building 6-8 Leavhals...switch to generix. This way you can at least increase your chances.

Lol ... I would not say "dont try other strats".  Feel free to try others indeed.  Leahvals are a great counter to the B'rels right now, but sadly the Leahvals have no counter and are considered overpowered.  That will be fixed for the patch, so you might get your friends upset if you just spam Leahvals.  Spectre's are a great counter to the entire federation or Klingons/Dominion that push hard with torpedo ships.

Frigates work miracles against Klingons because they are... well the 50% pulse reduction and the extra damage to ships 20 def or lower (50% of Klingon ships) make them almost too powerful as well.

Well if you're gonna just go and mass Leahvals early then why bother with the Rhienns?  Rhienn's and Generix do not share the same tech-line.  Rhienns/Leahvals early can be moved up to the Upgrade center, Rhienn Refits, and the Big D.

A Leahval/Generix start is totally viable and can progress to Norexans.

Rhienn Refits

I would say this requires you to get at least one expansion running...on 3d-3t...otherwise you cannot afford the cost for a decent number of refits and especially the supply...

And for the Ds you need to be in offensive already...otherwise they are too slow and cannot be used as a quick taskforce...just for direct encounter of fleets or bases.

If the enemy is not pinging accuratly...you might try slower ships in combinationwith griffin's sensor jamm...but as it is now I would recommend using Leav and Gen and Norex if you want to win.
