Ranking up the Avalon

How do I rank up the Avalon? The Avalon is so weak i can't even gat 1 silver bar of rank! Does anyone know an easy way how to rank them up?

Use it in a Fleet and hope it is the one to get the final shot in?

Make a map with 10000000000 romulan freighters on team 2, set yourself to team 1, ctrl E an avalon in for you... and start firing!!

The avalon is blah....but thanks to the avy I reversed engineered its peregrine fighters into a fearsome FPS raping super weapon of super lame proportions!!!!!!!!!!

I was hoping the Avalon had good veretan abilities.  What, is the Avalon horrible when ranked up?  I thought te Devs would give it something real good making it worth ranking up. Is it really that bad?

I don't remember the Avalon Veteran ability, but I do remember it's Officer ability, I believe.  I could be wrong, but I think that it gains the ability to deploy more fighters very, very quickly.  That ability, combined with a good choke-point, can give you an FPS destroying field of death that even a Borg Cube Fleet can't move through without taking severe losses.

Rank 5 gains Elite Squadrons: Decreases the time it takes to ready up the fighter hangars by 40 percent.
Veteran gains Starfleet Engineers: Shields, hull and subsystems repair twice as fast. Subsystem durability increased and reduces the duration of all subsystem disabling effects by 25 percent.
