Preventing Unwanted Movements

Say I have a small group of short, medium, and long-ranged vessels.  When attacking an enemy station, how would I get the units to move so that when the attack is ordered, instead of crowding around the station, the units move in just close enough to fire at the station, but not move in any closer?

i leave everything specifically on green movement, until a different movement is needed.

And in the latest version it mostly works for a change.

Just remember that when it's working, ships wont move even when shot at, unless special weapon autonomy is up high.
