I've played around with all the races, got a feel for the new features, and love it.  Cost hikes always make me sad, :(  but that is completely overshadowed by how amazingly cool this mod is. :woot: :D B)

Anyway, like the title says, I've been seeing how the old strats pan out.  People were worried that the borg's increased cost would really hurt them, but so far it hasn't against the AI.  I haven't tested Assimilate, but Optimize hasn't really changed too much.

I tried it the old way, but the increased need for tritanium on resistance is futile didn't sit well with me.  So here is what I've liked so far.  The strategy changes in that now your first miner goes after the dilithium moon, instead of tritanium.  Once the conduction matrix is built, buy the first two connections upgrades as you get the resources.  It will seem like it takes longer to get to 50 CC, but it really doesn't.  I began building the first sphere 6 minutes in, and it was built 1 minute later.

So it takes about 30 seconds longer than usual it would seem.  I'll have to test this in mulitiplayer to see how this pans out and report back.  The real boon is that the second sphere begins being built just under the 10 minute mark, and you'll have it at 11 minutes.  Then you have enough money to buy about 2 detectors, or 1 probe, and then a diamond.  After that spheres, and supply stations, etc.

What was crazy about this build was that at no time did I ever feel low on CCs, and I never felt the need to use resistance is futile, or go farther with more CC tech upgrades.  I'm off to go test some of this for real instead of against the computer.  Hopefully I'll have good news.

I really should look at the dates of topics I haven't read. I just assumed because it's not very far down the page and had a new next to it, it wasn't so old. I was wrong. I guess when I lose internet for a week these things happen.
