At long last, what I'm sure you've all been waiting for (or maybe you don't care at all  :sweatdrop:)... I present The Borg Collective. Now I know that patch 3.06 will change a lot of things about the Borg, but fear not, most of the guide should remain accurate... hopefully

Again, I'd really like some feedback... considering I have gotten practically none on the Romulan guide thus far. :crybaby:

As certain machines say in The Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy, share and enjoy!

Looks good! however i would note a few differences in my play strategy:
* i don't build the research station till later in the game
* i build one node at a time for vessel construction
another thing: the dominion dreadnought has the Polarize Hull ability not Overpowering Presence

Corrected and thank you!

Perhaps you could explain why you don't build the research station and why only one node at a time? Which avatar do you use etc...  ^-^

New version now available

Very well written.  I always loved playing optimize, but I had a hard time in multiplayer getting the build order right.  I'd always make it too late in the game and wouldn't have strong enough units, and it doubles the effectiveness of the ships that start getting slicer beam and whatnot.

I don't build the research station early because i lose a lot of resources with things like building ships to defend/attack and running out miners etc. I play optimize but am seriously considering switching to assimilate so that i can have assimilators earlier :D . The reason i build one node at a time is because i will save up just enough for a ship and then build it. Also, you might want to put in your guide that microing miners (ordering them to dock when they have 200-400 dilithium/tritanium) is helpful especially when you need that last couple hundred dilithium to finish that cube.

In the short run that tactic is useful (as you said, for getting that last few hundred di/tri), but it screws up the harvesting so much that for the next load you will actually gain resources less quickly until it equilibrates again (because the harvesters are syncronized with one loading and one dumping, this will cause problems).

I will put it in with that clarification though  ^-^

I just read the thing and I think its pretty solid and everything seems to make sense :) Though I haven't played Borg in MP yet, only against AI so its a little hard for me to judge :)

Great work as always though

Read through the first document, very useful stuff there thanks a lot. As a noob to FO, this really helped, although i had some real trouble following your strategy in a MP match VS Romulans. They seem to just kite borg units so easily, i couldn't get into combat range without the Transwarp so early. He just obliterated me by the time i had a few assimilators out. None the less i like the strategy of building the research center early and reaping the benefits of the upgrades, the cutter is awesome.

Splicing in some more advice to try to help with that  :sweatdrop:

EDIT: new version posted with slight revisions to using Nanite factory, mixed-tech etc...
