Miranda 2 vs. Ambassador

In a match against the Ai i ended up with my 6-8 Miranda 2 against an Ambassador (possible rank 2 or 3) later reinforced by another fresh warp in Ambassador.
I couldn't kill the (insert strong language) Ambassador before it got back in the repair yard.
At the start of the engagement neither side seemed to do any significant damage to the other and i dare say the Ambassador is the perfect counter for a Miranda 2
However, there must be some tactic to use other than killing the repair yard and finally wear the thing down.
How would you go about this..

This really isn't an answer to your question more of a feature request but it would be cool if the developers could code something to were you could target specfic subsystems by press a key. Like to target engines you could press 1 on the keypad or something. It would be alot easier to chase them down if they were going anywhere!

ambas is large sized, so miranda 2 pulses do 40% less damage. also is the miranda 2 a long range ship? cos the ambassador has HDSG to reduce damage by 50% again.
also 1 ambassador isnt gonna pose much of a threat back at the miranda 2, since the miranda 2 is a tough ship.
try use different ships lol.

Yup, Miranda-2 is long-range so damage to the Ambassador is reduced by 50%...

lol so take away 50%, then take away 40% from the pulses..
that brings it down to approximately 31% - 40% of normal, ouch lol

Yeah the initial value is 60% of the damage because it's pulse vs large size, then only 50% of that.
If the pulses do 10 damage per shot, that's reduced to 6 from size, then 3 from the passive.
So the Miranda 2's pulses do only 30% of their normal damage vs an Ambassador. Better try a different ship! =D

doesnt the miranda 2 have a phaser too?
thats why i gave the vague figure of 31%-40% based on the fact that the 50% reduction would apply to the phaser, but the 40% reduction would only apply to the pulses. im assuming the ship does over half its damage via pulses, which is most likely.

Well it was a game with unlimited resources. I thought i'd level my M2's a bit before going after the Dominion base with the dual Perimeter and i found my force of veteran/elite M2's doing close to zero damage against that first Ambassador.
Imagine my surprise that a squad which can take out dual perimeters has difficulties with a single ship. Once i destroyed the last fed repair yard i could destroy the Ambassador, but that tough little ship held out longer than a sphere or cube.
Dang. Fear the Ambassador!! Perhaps the feds are OP

the ambassador is quite tough before you consider the countering.
miranda 2 would do less against perimeters too. they are stations so pulses do 40% less. so the miranda 2 as a whole would do roughly 35% less damage to them.

I know there are more effective units against Perimeters, but the M2's bulk makes it a battle to behold

Boggz, remember when my lone ambassador tanked your sphere and dode in that one game a long time ago all by itself for a while before it died! That was the coolest!

So uh mal and Dom, remeber that one game? That one game a long time ago? That one game along time ago where you (Dom) and cbosdell ( or mark) were totally kicking our ass as Klingons and we had no hope and then mal and I went on our final stand and charged after I lost all stations except our starbase, and we took you out with my 8 Miranda mk2s ( I love that ship so much) and maps hyper argus and v22s and we took out all your expansions and your bases and your entire fleet and my mirandas ranked up and it was a totally awesome come from behind, against all odds win by me and mal and our great teamwork and my beautiful miranda mk2s with their beautiful Passover and beautiful blue pulses of doom, wasn't that just the best game ever?
