firstly i think this topic belongs in another section of the forum, like "idea and feature requests" or "balancing", but i thought this section would be most relevant, so i wont feel offended if this gets moved.

ok so i was playing some fleet ops over the weekend with my pal, and what we found caused quite a debate and i think that this is something that definitely needs to be looked into by the devs...

i was romulan(helev) n he was feds(mayson), n i wiped the floor with him. i won by a land slide! (and he is no novice). i won by only building Generix Support Refits. why some of you may ask... well: 1: they cheap.
2: they have the shield recharge ability
3: fairly good fire power
4: once u have a fleet of about 20, the fleet as a whole is almost immortal. due to the shield recharge ability.

for example he sent a fleet of norways, some intrepids, and 1 or 2 sovergeins(yea i cant spell lol), about 25 ships in total. i had about between 20-25 Generix Support Refits. we engaged and i walked out victorious and i lost about 1 or 2 ships! thats crazy!

its more or less the same with klingons and kvorts! although losses where the worse. but point is those ships are horribly over powered for their price. but thats not the point i wana make here.

point i wana make is why should i even bother building a warbird yard and the like if if i cant just sit with Generix Support Refits!? the power of these and the Generix Frigate Refits just doesnt compare to the warbird ships! like for the price of one big D u get two Generix Support Refits and in my view two Generix Support Refits are worth much more tactically than one big D. something needs to be done here...

1. there is definity a balancing issue here.
2. higher level ships such as warbirds need more BANG for what u pay.

coz really at the moment i only build Generix Support Refits and Generix Frigate Refits, because there is simply no reason to build anything else coz i just win everytime with these ships.

IMO a player, that gives you the chance to even build 20 generix refits, has had a really, really bad day, as it is damn easy to crush a rommie with mayson. (Alltogether it is easy to beat every race except a kvort spammer with maysons warpin+norway combination in 311.)

There are rumours that the shield recharge ability is going to drop out of FO with 3.1.2 anyway.

In case it does not, there's quite an easy solution to make the generix support refits not able to fight all alone, which is to drastically reduce their offense XOR reducing their range to short, while not changing their speed.

We are all aware, that the warbirds are underpowered at the moment nd it's said that this will change soon.

I hate being "One of those guys", but all of the issues you've mentioned have been brought up time and time again.  Check the balancing forum or do a quick search and you'll find it.

Oh, and Rommies should NEVER be beating Mayson right now :D.

Supports have almost no firepower.  They have weak shields.  It's far too difficult to try and shield recharge every single ship that's taking fire and if you turn special weapons to full autonomy you will end up seeing most of your special energy going to mines and plasma bolts.

Yes, they are aware that K'vorts are overpowered at the moment.  Same goes for the Intrepid, The Breen, and in some ways the Leahval.  Hopefully they will see that these vessels need a liability to their passives besides just expensive costs or subsystem hitpoints.  Many maps nowadays played online make it so that costs are not quite such an issue as you can usually have a pretty good flow coming out.

I repeat:  Rommies should NEVER be beating Mayson right now :D.
