Dominion vs Romulans

I often find the Cehlaer class and the Shrike Class rather devastating as the Dominion. Especially when together. My S-2 vessels are eaten alive by the Cehlaer and my bugs get neutered by the Shrikes. And War Frigates don't hold well against either. Is there a good mid-game counteraction against a mix of these with one or two Leahvals in the mix?

Against the Cehlaer a couple S2 should be a good counter. S2s are vs long range (LR) and have torps and are short range (SR) on their own -> perfect counter.

Against Shrikes Bugs or Bombers are useful.


This however is about the passives and size and so on...I have not considered cost and time...

strikes and rhiens eat bugs and bombers.

Well, i'm no expert, just looked at the guide (which you may have already done) and it looks like if you are the Breen Avatar then breen ships are the way to go.

Have you tried that?

Well, I often have this problem mostly when Pure Tech... any help here? If there is not a good counter. Then I guess possibly we need another Dominion Small Chassis ship. XP

or u need to learn the counters.

s-2 counters cehlaer really well, as there are two passives at work both helping the s-2 (TWA and HDSG)

if they are making large numbers of cehlaer then they will not have too many hordes of small ships like shrikes. and s-2 arent bad against shrikes either. the s-2 escort CRUISER is a cruiser and doesnt lose weapons to shrike.

if they are making mostly shrikes, with very few cehlaers then make war frigates (obviously be breen until they fix the frigate issue). making mostly shrikes after making a warbird yard is silly anyway, why waste the money on a warbird yard if u are gonna divert all your resources to shrikes?

if intrep is medium sized, i think s2 should be medium sized as well.

S-2's perfectly counter Cehlaer's.

  Shrikes do counter Bugs to some degree, but they are also medium range, from which the bugs will receive less damage.  Bugs, on the other hand, can reach a critical mass VERY quickly where Shrikes begin dieing before they can be micro'd properly.

  I wouldn't use Shrikes alone to counter bugs.

  However I WOULD use S-2's alone to counter Cehlaer.  If you've got your point and click Dominion decloaking then the S-2's should never lose track of the Cehlaer even if they cloak.

And don't forget that you can ram that stupid warbird, and have your bugs and bombers hammer it while it's spinning helpless in space.  Let the S2 eat the shrikes to keep them off the bugs and bombers.

It's another option.

actually u have it round the wrong way. the s-2s should all go after the cehlaers as they counter them nicely.

the bugs should keeep firing on the cehlaers too. ramming only as necessary to prevent retreat. after the warbirds are dead then u go to shrikes.

or u can kill shrikes first if u want, its up to u. shrikes die fast due to being generally weak. but s2 counter cehlaer seriously.

Yeah I never find Shrikes to be as scary as Rhienns to be honest.  The Shrikes go down in a heartbeat while the Rhienns can hold out for a long time with Phase Plates.

Oh, i guess those was mine s-2's , you got owned becasuse, i had 4 veteran (practically they are battleships by stats)  and almost all other was officer too, they got ranked up badly on your borg ally....
Normally s-2s never own feds...

Yes, that was you.  You munched on my ally badly.  I should have supported him earlier but I was busy playing with your fed ally and took me too long to notice you hitting him.  Also, if he did shout for help then I missed it. 

Anyway, it was a fun game.  I need to work more on my teamwork though.  Maybe will get a team game tonight if I'm lucky.
