So the last couple of times I have played against the computer I have been playing 3vs3 or 2vs2 and whenever I am playing against the Dominion I always seem to get steamrolled. I am usually the roms but sometimes fed and either way I get rolled over by huge numbers of ships and so does my ally. i can usually beat the computer everytime unless they have a dominion player. whats up with that? or am I just bad? lol

Well, the nice thing about the AI is that it ususually sends ships one at a time to your base, so if you intercept them before they get there you can really thin their numbers quickly. Also, it's good mirco management practice as you can use your long range vessels to stay away from ships. Most dominion vessles you'll encounter have a medium range, and the ones with long range can only fire forward. Great fed ships as always are Norways and Excesior IIs. Plus, 16 norways spamming their plasma coil can destroy even a battleship.
As romulans, full groups of rhienns firing, then retreating when chased always do well, with generix support recharging your Norexans/D'deridex/Tavaras. You'll notice the AI is pretty predictable with how it attacks you, so as long as your ships are getting away from most of the fire, you'll do fine. If you can give me some specifics of how the AI is giving you troubles, I can give you better advice. But you really should come online and play with us more often, Firesky! We don't bite! (Well, there was that one time....

Oddly enough i don't seem to have a problem with the Dominion, i struggle with the Klingons. I play Federation and usually Mayson as my avatar.
Sabres destroy early dominion ships but you have to manage them well... Keep the moving and don't go through the dominion fleet, do an oblique pass to keep the range at maximum and the sabres speed also high. This should also reduce the dominion rate of fire due to forward placed weaponary. Split into two groups if you want and select which is attacked by micro management....
Against the computer if its a 1 v 1 i often go straight for one or both of the extra supply points. then go straight for my first shipyard. Risky but if you do and place down Mayson's quicker turrets you can often get a strangle hold on the computers supplies. Given the computer spams this seems important!!
As soon as possible after this i set up a warp in and then either drop a Descent or 3 Captial ships depending on the situation... Still harassing with my Sabres. Using this time i now migrate to Maysons Excelsior II's as they are plain hard and blast away for all i'm worth. On assault of his base i make sure i have Norways on assault mode with plasma coil to take care of the bugs..
Hope this helps.... I'm new so there might be better stratagies out there somewhere (more than likely) however this seems to have worked so far.
Have no idea with the Romulans at the moment!!

Another thing to expand on what mal said, the AI won't attack until they have reached their target/ your base if you have a small fleet. so if you send a couple ships to pick their ships off one at a time before they are in range of your base, you can significantly improve your chances of surviving the onslaught.

hahaha i wish they came at my base one at a time or in small groups! they always just show up with a huge fleet usually while I am fighting their ally. and Mal I play late at night EST so no one else is ever on!

Ill be on around 9 EST tonight and even later on friday and saturday, so I would be happy to see what you mean. I usually play against the AI alone, but I'm always up for a good team game.
