Borg versus Fed

My opponent knowing I'm borg quick techs to intrepids and double yard spams them. I put together a few scubes, a pair of assimilators, and a sphere. He knocks on my door with 2x warp in and about 14 of them and wipes me out. Is there something I'm missing here on how borg can counter intrepids?

1. Which avatar were you?  Until the borg redo, you basically never want to build assims unless you're the assim avatar, in which case you don't want to build very much else.

2. Dodecahedrons counter intrepids, but it's a tough fight.  You need scubes and probes with 1-2 dodes.

3. Borg have very strong miners.  It's important for them to raid other races' mining to take advantage of the fact that the enemy can't raid them back.  If you don't engage a fed player, he can build up faster than you can.

EDIT: dodes counter intrepids very well, the reason it's a hard fight is because dodes are very hard to retreat if the enemy starts getting the upper hand.

Usually I play assim.

What config on the dodes for an intrepid counter?

Borg are very difficult to play atm, the borg redo should come "soon" but we all know how long or short that can be and the project progress for borg redo is only 10 percent, my best bet would be wait till the borg get some fixing up, they are damn hard to play right now

Well besides the suggestions presented by tryptic..... i can only suggest..

1. You might try a sube rush, and just continue scube production, ive seen this work to great effect recently, you just keep spamming scubes as fast as possible, and try to get your numbers up, for this i believe you research the second chassis level, however im not sure... and then just build scubes

And if that donest work, try saying resistance if futile and hope they submit, as that always worked well for the borg  :D

note the scube only/rush tactic only works on optimised avatar  due to the cost of the ship framework (30% less) 

i havent played as assim avatar in a while i tend to only go optimised borg

I disagree... I have found torpedo assims do quite well as both avatars against intrepids, warpins, and E2s. :)

I dont play as borg much but i would prefer Scube rush to pin him down and pirimyd with max hold beam to assimalate the intrepids low crew count

assims are cheaper for assiming crew early on. and auto assim doesnt do fab as the intrep has 85 crew. its about average crew, not low. and assims/pyramids are large sized and the intrep will never miss them.

dodecas are much better against intreps.
