Borg Assim against Fed-Warpin

After ploaying some games against humans, i cant seem to win with borg assimilation against a federation player who techs up to SFC.

His Tactic was not to expand until he had sfc and his first warpin out.
as he used very few intrepids or small ships at all, my assim beams were pretty useless (because of 150 crew); and the ambadassors shredded my assims away. after my first assim fleet+scube+dode fleet got destroyed by a warpin , a turret and some intrepids, i could never get onto my feet again, because he could simply outproduced me. (we played cuiper-belt and he got the dilithium side).

Any hints and/or advice to win as assim?

keep chasing his intrepids with your assims, their energy will recharge fast and you can suck his crew again.

Try attacking sooner - to get SFC your opponent has to go through an Antares Yard, SFE, SFS, and SFC - adds up to a considerable amount of time with almost no ships . Also, you may want to mix and match ships - don't just rely on Assimilators which will do 40% less damage to Ambassadors for instance.
