Borg artillary?

Hey. I was playing 1vs1 as borg against the federation the other night and the opponent started massing torpedo turrets with repair vessels. Although his advance was slow, it was not stoppable with borg in that borg has no real artillary vessels. I tried using Assimilators with long range torpedos but fed torpedo platforms had longer range and killed my so called "artillary" immediately. The only way I was able to go through the massive torpedo turret wall was taking a long long long time to build 4 cubes to overpower with brute force... took about 3 hours. Is there an easier way to go through a turret wall?

Only by killing the Constructors before they get a wall up. Borg don't have artillery and are at their best in late game.

What he said, and what you did. Basically you have to sit back and engage in a resource race until you can pump out a few high defense cubes that can punch through artillary.
Just keep in mind that someone who is spending all their times building turret lines is not spending their time building ships to attack you or respond to other areas of the map. So you COULD try harassing or controlling resource points they haven't gotten to yet. Just slap down a few assimilators next to moon pairs and wipe out or capture anything that comes along to put in a mining base. Or try to figure out where they're going to put in their next defense line and be there first.
the point is, be more proactive in not allowing the other player to turtle up like that.

If they have built a wall of turrets far from their actual resources, in addition to the other advice here you can use Transwarp on your Probes and Scout Cubes to jump over the hurdle and take out mining and crucial structures.

In addition, something I have not tried before, but which may be to your advantage, if you do capture a feddy (or any race) constructor in this way, use it to pump out adapters with the race-specific defense bonus. they're relatively cheap and could also give you an edge in this scenario.Just slap down a few assimilators next to moon pairs and wipe out or capture anything that comes along to put in a mining base.

idk what their durability is but if you build enough of them the turret will split is fire among all the ships.

It's probably best to make sure a player never gets a wall of turrets up. I learned that in a rather embarrassing fashion when I left a noob Fed player alone and he amassed a ridiculous wall of torp turrets.

The keys to breaking the fed turret wall without cubes are regen3/torp1 spheres, backed up by some assimilators configured for pure assimilation (to keep fed ships off your spheres).

Unless i am mistaken, nanoprobes have arty range and can be quite lethal.

From what I know, they range from Medium to Long. Even if they were artillery range, it wouldn't make the ship using them artillery.

I agree if you let them build a line of turrets this is the way to go. However If you can move a few assimulators to their unprotected mining stations a long with a few spheres and diamonds for support. If you have the spare resourses. Build a few assumilators and park them on the Resourse moons. I set all levels to yellow and leave them there . I go with a few totally assimulate slotted assimulators and go raiding. I try to capture the constructors building the turrets and other ships that come to the aid of it and the mining stations. Once you capture the stations and ships either decomission or repurpose them for you use . Doing this will cost your opponent time and resourses to rebuild the constructor and the station lost. Decomissioning the stations allow you to retreat and get half of the value of the opponents station cost back in Dilithium. I normially play aginst the AI Hard,1X1 or 2X1) and a few times it has saved my bacon. The only stations that I dont normally decomission are the Dominion Ketracel white ( the stations that give you RP) as they been known to help me out in building.Aginst a AI this works well. However A sharp opponent may give more trouble .silent93 wrote:The keys to breaking the fed turret wall without cubes are regen3/torp1 spheres, backed up by some assimilators configured for pure assimilation (to keep fed ships off your spheres).
