Get used to that, becuase until they can shrink keyboards, you'll see alot of that. But someday you might find yourself having to use a key board the size of a dollar bill. With a monitor the size of a dime.

I personally would have like the new design better if it looked like the various hybrid models that have come out, like this one by Jetfreak: USS Enterprise AR-Prime Hybrid Download, Star Trek: Armada 2 Ships

The design itself really isn't all too bad in my eyes, it just desperately needed a different color scheme

If that every happens I will start selling hand crafted typewritters. I really don't like this move towards tiny everything.

Refit version? Hardly crazy. I like that one, too. Though I like it because it was the only Trek ship with exterior hull lighting done correctly.

Yeah that one and I like the hull lighting on the Excelsior and Reliant. Seems ships have lost some of that cool lighting style since TMP era.

That is partly because TMP era ships were all physical models.  The model for the Constitution Refit Enterprise was like 14 feet long and cost Paramount quite a bit.  Which is why there are so many shots of it in TMP.  Lighting and shadows are difficult to get just right on a digital model.

Anyhow, whats wrong with the mildly updated TOS Enterprise used in Trials and Tribbilations?  (exterior anyway, I would never expect paramount to use 1960s sets in a new movie)

The D and most newer ships until a fair way into DS9 were also physical models, didm't stop them from removing the lights on the hull.

........ I wonder what would happen if there was a startrek series where all the ships were CGI, and then suddenly the database with all the models crashed making them have to do over. Would they cancel the show? Or just recreate from scratch?

Clip recycle... proud Star Trek tradition.

would never happen because of the many many backups that they would have
