I love this idea i used to play STO but stopped to pay for WOW so if its free i will be able to do both

So I payed for lifetime; the cost of lifetime = 2 years of monthly.
And they are releasing it free just after 1 year.

The reason is because free to play makes more profit. (Through membership and microtransaction)

And we all know the golden rule! Profit is more important than loyalty and customer satisfaction!

lol... this always happens with games who spend too much money and give too much hype and not meeting the hype standards...


well i'm just gona play to see wtf happens with borg >.>; other than that i don't like the game play style... it's too "old-aged"

Plus the storyline is so last century. I will play it just to give it a shot, plus the character creation tool gives one some nice possibilities but apart from that I don't think I will play it much.

However on another note I think they are finally getting it right, free-to-play is a great idea and having special items requiring to be bought will increase their profits as other games that have gone free to play have increased their profits substantially.

well from a quick read of their news post it appears that even though it will be basically free, some features will be reserved for paying users. so u may get fancier guns or more choices of something. so your money didnt necessarily go to waste.

i wont be playing it even when its free, not a fan of rpg games. and even if i could get into one, sto probably wouldnt be it.

All the good stuff will be reserved to the paying ones.

All MMO's have one goal after all: MONEY, MONEY, MONEY and even more MONEY.

Of course you can play if you wish to, even enjoy it, just don't expect to see me there.

Pretty much. I have to be honest, Champions Online snagged me lol.

I just fear this world will end up just like as in the book Jennifer Government 
(If you have not read/heard of this book, I highly suggest you find out about it).

I think the rights were recently sold to another company and this company has decided to release it free to play... great news now ill give it a chance.

How can any startrek fan reject having a go at a free to play startrek game?

Well Nuke out of all things Sto is a good thing to waste money on. Just consider it as donating to the Star Trek Franchise! Oh and that Mort can come back to it!

So STO is doing so poorly that they ahve to go free to play, 'eh ?

I wonder what kinda merch is gona become pay only, I bet it's simple stuff too, or prehaps free play people wont be able to advance past a certain rank.


Either way, prepare for masses of trolls as it becomes free.

well personally i'm really not a fan of rpgs, they have never appealed to me, thats why i turn down sto. turn based games also dont appeal to me.
