This was aired during the Super-Bowl I don't usually watch foot ball but the game was pretty neat.

I'm sure the movie is gonna be great, but I'd prefer seeing something that actually continues the star trek timeline instead of stuff thats set before TOS but has better special effects than voyager...  "The future begins" really doesn't fit...

This movie was made to fill a gap in the Trek time line that was never talked about, The Ramulin WAR, Witch is important it explains the lasting fear between the Federation and the Romulen star empire.

That is incorrect  It follows James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) enrolling at Starfleet Academy, his first meeting with Spock (Zachary Quinto), and their battles with Romulans from the future, who are interfering with history.

Somehow, it doesn't really look like Star Trek anymore.

I agree. The first scenes look like:
"Kirk, do you realise you are living a miserable live?"
"Wtf, man, leave me alone you *censored*!!!"

"I provide you with a great opportunity, come to Star Fleet, get a ship, travel the universe, meet interessting people - AND KILL THEM ALL!"

"Oh, hey, nice - I'll do it, I hope I won't forget my bottle full of booze!"

And the whole trailer is full of action scenes - come ooooooon. It looks like they are all a bunch of cowboys, shooting at everything and everyone.

There is some real interessting cast! Really, I think I can feel comfortable with most of them. But Kirk looks way too young for a starship captain.

BUT - I know there were many, many movie trailers before, pretending the movie would be full of action scenes and in the end it turned out totally different.

I just don't like the trailer - damnit, it's not Star Wars. :-D

Uhm, so what now? ST XI does not take place after the TOS episode where Spock is suspected to be a Romulan spy because the Crew doesn't know that Vulcans and Romulans look the same.
If this movie takes place a long time before TOS how do they whant to explain that no one recognizes the Romulans in the above mentioned episode?  :ermm:
As far as I know Trek at least one person always remembered his or her time-travel-trip.
But maybe this person will be Spock. So...

Oh, come on... Time-travel never really made sense. Now they make up a whole movie  :crybaby:

I thought I read that some where that the Romalns where in war with the federation at the time and was a uncovered gap in Trek history.

You are correct.
